Bad move IMO. The oldies who like Strictly might not notice a recorded results show, but this show is being compared to X Factor, which excels with its big, live Sunday night results show.

People will find out the result and it just won't be the 'big event' that it should be. And between Countryfile and AR? Daft. I'm not against having it on Sunday, but have it live and after 8.

Confirmation of the time as well,

Emeli Sande is the first of those musical guests.

Very poor decision to have a pre-recorded show for The Voice. Given it is young skewing, and the fact that word-of-mouth and social networks have largely driven the rapid increase in viewership. A large portion of the audience will find out the result even if they try to avoid it, the result will probably be trending on twitter 24hrs before the result show is broadcast! And to relate it to ratings: I can't now see The Voice Sunday results shows having a Sunday boost effect like the X-Factor does.

Exactly it'll be all over Twitter. They'll be little chance of avoiding it. First big error regarding The Voice IMO.

The tea-time soaps are still doing really poorly. All 3 will be even lower than this come the summer. Neighbours in particular has seen a significant drop in year-to-year viewers over the past 4 months. This week is quite a big week of storylines and with the explosion yesterday I thought Neighbours might see a boost this week - it did put in a strong lunch-time share yesterday though.

Pure greed splitting it over two nights when it ought to be live and there Sunday schedule wasn't exactly in need of the lift either. Hope this backfires, as this latest aggressive scheduling is too much from the Beeb and going to put real undue strain on the commercial broadcasters.

A pre-recorded Sunday night results show doesn't seem like a particularly good idea for The Voice but its managed to surprise at every other step of the way so far so I'll reserve judgement for the time being. And to be fair a live results show on Saturday that's up against Talent or pushed very late in the schedule to avoid Talent doesn't strike me as a much better option.

Who are airing what, exactly, in the 7:30 slot?

This Sunday ITV1 will be airing Family Fortunes (starting from 7PM), Channel 4 the news and Five a film (The Magnificent Seven from 6:30). Presumably that's a decent guide as to the competition The Voice Results can expect from April 29.

Its not like anyone is actually putting much effort into the slot where The Voice results are currently scheduled. And frankly I don't for one second believe The Antiques Road Show is going to get much in the way of a significant boost from a Voice lead-in.

It being pre-recorded doesn't seem to have done the Voice ratings any harm thusfar!

Glad to see those who have whinged and moaned about BBC1's stolid Sunday night schedule are now whingeing and moaning about BBC1 being too commercial and "aggressive" on Sundays...

US Ratings Tuesday April 17

On a night when CBS was mostly repeats NBC and Fox tied the night with viewers 18-49.

On Fox Glee dropped three tenths to a series low which doesn't paint the prettiest of pictures for things to come next year. At 9PM New Girl was up a tenth at Raising Hope also rose a tenth in its season finale. Meanwhile on NBC The Biggest Loser continued to benefit from being cut down to an hour (and perhaps a Voice lead out) it was up a tenth vs. last week but The Voice results were down two tenths at 9PM. At 10PM Fashion Star dropped two tenths to equal a repeat airing of CBS' Unforgettable.

Over on ABC their terrible Tuesday night performances continued. In the 8PM hour Last Man Standing dropped two tenths to a series low and no longer looks like a safe bet for renewal and Cougar Town dropped another tenth and I suspect not even looming syndication will be enough to save it. Dancing with the Stars provide a tiny bit of good news its results show was up a tenth on last week. And in the 10PM hour Private Practice predictably nosedived without its Grey's Anatomy lead-in. It was down four tenths from its last Thursday episode and down two tenths on the season finale of Body of Proof.

CBS' only original of the night was NCIS and its not looking the best of health right now. And on The CW Ringer aired what will surely be its series finale by growing a tenth.

ABC
8PM: Last Man Standing – 1.6 [6.43]
8:30PM: Cougar Town – 1.4 [4.62]
9PM: Dancing with the Stars: The Results – 2.4 [13.79]
10PM: Private Practice – 1.7 [6.78]

CBS
8PM: NCIS – 3.0 [17.62]
9PM: NCIS: LA [r] – 2.0 [11.32]
10PM: Unforgettable [r] – 1.5 [8.28]

Fox
8PM: Glee – 2.4 [6.18]
9PM: New Girl – 2.7 [5.31]
9:30PM: Raising Hope – 1.9 [3.93]

NBC
8PM: The Biggest Loser – 2.2 [6.87]
9PM: The Voice: The Results – 3.3 [8.75]
10PM: Fashion Star – 1.5 [4.41]

The CW
8PM: 90210 [r] – 0.3 [0.76]
9PM: Ringer – 0.5 [1.16]

Pre-recorded auditions aren't exactly a like-for-like comparison with pre-recorded results shows.

In fairness though my complaint is that the BBC aren't being commercial enough. If they're going to do a Sunday results show it should be live, air for an hour and air at 8PM. That'll kill-off ITV's two-hour Sunday night dramas in the first hour or force them to air them from 9-11 and provide a boost for Silent Witness on both Sunday and theoretically Monday (although maybe not in reality). I assume Silent Witness will still be airing episodes for the next few weeks...(?)

I think it will knock the Sunday ratings down about 500k to 1m versus the Saturday shows, when a Sunday live show would otherwise have seen a 1m rise on the Saturday shows. I can understand that they probably don't want to spend license payers money on 2nd night of live TV though.

I would suggest:

variable start - The Voice
8:30PM - Casualty
9:20PM - Lottery draws
9:30PM - The Voice results
10:00pm - News

This then leaves BGT to run 8:30-9:30, or 8:15-9:30 or 8:30-9:45, however ITV want to put it. Not sure about BGT final, but BGT final is going to be an issue whatever BBC does.

Why exactly is that 'aggressive scheduling'? Isn't ITV's decision to air BGT against The Voice 'aggressive scheduling'? What is the BBC supposed to do with its popular titles? Broadcast them at midnight, when nobody is watching?

It's up to ITV - and any other commercial broadcaster - to make programmes viewers want to watch. If audiences prefer a BBC programme, ITV should raise its game and improve the quality of its product. It's got nothing to do with 'aggressive scheduling'.

give ITV licence fee money then to do that - since TV is basically X Factor without ad breaks - lets level the playing field.

Neither sounds particularly appealing.

Not ideal, but imagine the squealing if Voice Results had taken up Saturday night space ITV had earmarked for their Talent final.

The penultimate Silent Witness two-parter is due to start on the night of the first Voice Results show, but the final two-parter, currently due for the following week, might have to be postponed. It's already been postponed once.

They made the same mistake here on The Voice of Holland, pre recorded the results and it leaked on twitter. The result show the next day had a 20% drop.

What is the problem of filming a Live results show on Sunday? It should be on Sunday but not pre-recorded.

Big mistake pre-recording the results show for TV IMO. You can't look at Strictly and judge it in the same way - TV is bigger with a much younger audience and has been a much bigger hit on Twitter than Strictly ever was, so the chances of the result leaking are pretty high. If they weren't going to do it live they should have kept it on Saturday nights.

That's one thing Cowell got right with X Factor. ITV originally wanted to pre-record the results show for Sundays and he vetoed the move as he knew it had to be live if it was going to work.

And it probably meant more pay for him.

SRO Audiences has now updated, and there will be a live episode of The Voice on Eurovision Saturday, instead of Friday night as previously indicated. It will probably air 6.50-7.50pm.

I'm sure it did but it paid off spectacularly. The results show went from often losing a portion of the performance show audience (when it aired on the same night) to building on it significantly.

I agree it probably is a money issue for the BBC and that's fair enough, but like I said, if that is the case then they should have kept it all on the Saturday night.

Could go on until 8pm if need be. The BBC don't seem to mind shoving the Lotto draws on BBC Two now.
