I agree, however as we know from most sports, they tend to go with who pays them the most money, not which gives them the biggest audience. That mindset is about profit, not sport, and certainly not an event of national importance.
the sad (but true thing) is that the X-Factor finale, is as much an event of national importance, as who will win a sporting event, it gets over 10 million viewers, and has endless press attention, which sport can boost that these days?
Dont get me wrong I dont like that, that is the case, im betting amongst certain demographics the X-Factor finale, is far more important than who will win some horse race, they probably couldn't even name any previous winners, but can name all the previous winners of X-Factor.

but again, those drivers are human, and its not common to loose two drivers in a race, yet alone 2, 2 years running. Are there any stats on how many horses died, at the National over the years?
I dont see how people who claim to love their animals, can take part in event where its a known factor some of them will die.
