Can anyone recommend hotels or areas to stay in New York? My friend is going for a conference and invited me along for a cheap holiday, so we are getting a few nights free but we need to book hotels for the beginning and the end! woop for freebies! Bit annoyed I'm not invited to the conference though! They don't know what they are missing out on!

Muddy I have stayed at the Belvedere Hotel & The Edison Hotel,
both are just off Times Sq, brilliant locations, they are not very modern hotels but were nice and clean, the Belvedere has an added bonus of a little kitchenette. Hotels in NY can be very expensive but, these were quite reasonable.

You will love it, one of the best places I have ever been too xx

Morning all

Hope everyone is well.

It is a lovely sunny day here. I have got a busy day ahead watching the football semi final (come on Everton), then the Grand National (got 4 horses in the sweep Seabass, The Midnight Club, Quiscover Fontaine and Deep Purple also I may put a bet on West End Rocker and Shakalakaboomboom - I love that name ) and finally watching rugby league (come on St Helens) looking forward to it all.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are doing

"So shall I join the uncensored facebook group?" I asked myself two days ago.
I had a FB account but didn't really use it. I have always told the little faceaches that facebook is for the under 18,s so I do feel a bit of a hypocrite lol. My FB account is no great shakes either I have the grand total of six friends, I don't get it I was popular at school my impression of Shirley Bassey at the end of school concert was ledgendary in the annals of the High School for Girls.I I do the facial experiences and head moves and everything, if I go to Oxford I will do Diamonds are forever Corin stylee.)
I didn't have a picture up naturally I am worried about stalkers looking for mail order brides or that my picture will be stolen to adverise Britains Next Top Model.
But I steeled myself put up my grab a granny picture and waited nervously (yeah right) to be accepted. I had two acceptances from the muddy pony and her trusty lietenant the cat Puss in boots. All good so far the fb page is great and I put up a couple of greetings and retreat to my bed to continue dying of flu.
The next day the facebook group has evolved and has 80 followers, as I suffer with nose disease I have a cherry to see who has joined, imagine my horror when I spot the name of someone I know. I use to be friendly with this lady but it all got a bit much and I ended up hiding from her like she was selling double glazing.
She is the persistant type turns up everyday and you feel like you are suffocating slowly.
The day I gave birth to Dan I was actual in the delivery suite and the nurse popped her head round the door to say (this woman) was actually on the phone demanding to know what type of faceache I had produced, so the signs were there back then lol. We have now drifted apart but still speak if we see each other.
So I am panicking The mega beast knows about my obsession but i'm not sure I want everyone to know and I have a feeling they would if this lady is involved. Plus she is so not interested in BB so she is checking out what i'm up to. Well yoU can imagine Face ache thinks it is hilarious and tells me to get a grip who do I think I am Mulder and Skully. Tell me anyone how expensive is a divorce?
Anyway for those still awake I do the only thing I can think of I dm international rescue ie : the fox and the mangy Cat. They suggest a couple of things and the upshot is that I decide to change my name on facebook to a non de plume Chocolate Orange !! seductive enough you think? well it seems not the computer said"No" how rude!! Anyway I decide on Carol Brown and I take down my glamourous granny picture ( still with me ?)
The fox said " but will it work?" "We can but try" I reply, but hark remember I am completely technophobic and my little brain forgot that i had already posted on the page earlier. So when I posted again introducing myself as a lurker Carol Brown half a dozen people said hang on you posted earlier you are Pickles. Miss Marple is safe i am rumbled lol
In the meantime I ring a mate who works with this woman and she isn't even on facebook just a case of mistaken face book identity. PHEW!!!
Pickles that is so funny i tryed that i used Gertude La cow and it kept asking for my real name how does it know my name? so i deleted it in stead

Muddy, I always stay in hotel called Red Roof Inn ( also called Nyma) it's on W32nd/5th, it's beside the Empire State Building, around the corner from Macy's and Madison Square Garden and about 10 min walk to Times Square, it's very nice and reasonably priced
See Josie's friend had her baby, he looks lovely

Afternoon Ladies.

Hope everyone is enjoying this sunny Saturday.

Muddy I agree anywhere near Times Square is a great location. Stayed round the corner from there the last time, can't remember the hotel name though.

Hoping to go back next year when the Freedom Tower is finished so have taken a note of the other Hotels you ladies have recommended. New York has an amazing atmosphere...love it.

Remember Josie got stuck in NY in that terrible snowstorm on her way to Mexico. One of the threadmates on here at the time offered to put her up but eventually found her a hotel.

She went with Nettie didn't she? Is it the same Jeannette that's just had the baby?

well i've just had a shower, so that counts as cleaning doesn't it?? would have a bite, cept i've liberated half an easter egg from my boy, but told him a bird flew in & pinched when he questioned where it was lol!!! he's only 5 & he believes everything his mummy says
must tell you about my fab bargain!! went to asda the other day & was just having a nosey through the sale rack, as ya do!! well they had bra's 2 for £9 reduced to £5. padded which i'm not overly keen as , mainly as i don't need help in that department, one black & one black with cream cups with a lace effect on. took it to the self service till, which i usually hate as they never work if you have more than 1 item in my experience!! anyway, as i scanned it, it showed up as £1!!!! well, i got outta there before anyone could tell me it was all a big mistake lol!!!

the only problem is, the size i bought is the one i've worn for years, except i forgot i'd got re-measured last year, as i'd lost a bit of weight, so although they do fit me sort of, i now look like Nell Gwynn!!!

anyway, off to horseriding, BBL xxx
