That is interesting Sheila mum was walking on the red carpet into the ceremony and the carpet was badly laid and bunched up and she fell and hit her head. Anyway she was quiet throughout the rest of the day and then she just passed out on her chair. Her right side seemed to drop and as she came around she was babbling but quickly got her speech back. I do think she may have had a mini stroke but Faceache thinks it was cos she had two glasses of champers and isn't use to drinking.
but from what you say i think it may be the former. If the right side drops it is a sign of a stroke. I have a friend who has ahd 3 mini strokes but they put her on medication and she is fine now. She has to go for a check up at regular intervals though which is no problem if it is saving your life is it. |

Hello new thread.
Hello lovely JJJAT posters. Good to hear that things went well with the dialysis over the weekend, Carole. Hope your MIL's Dr. visit goes well and there are no lasting effects. |

Barbara have just got back. Bits of info for you in and around London Town
![]() At all of the overground major London Train Stations you will find a slim chest high machine. They store an invaluable London Pocket Map at £2. The give good street maps of London, show all the Attractions (ie Theatres, Museums etc), London Docklands etc and fit easily into your handbag. This is it.... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...QEwAA&dur=2263 Folds up to approx 5" x 3" easy handbag size and as I say invaluable for visitors to London. Also includes a London Tube Map ![]() We travelled to London arriving at Paddington Station at 10am. Walked down to the Southbank walking across the Embankment Bridge to the south side. Turned left walking eastwards to London Bridge, just beyond which is Tower Bridge. En route we walked passed TV Central, National Theatre, Oxo Tower, Tate Modern Gallery (free entry otherthan if you want to go & see major exhibitors), Founders Arms behind which we stopped for a Starbucks coffee , Shakespeares Globe Theatre, Westminster Cathedral ruins, The Clink Prison (London Bridge), fantabuloso Nando's , Southwark Cathedral, Golden Hinde (£6 per adult to walk round), (at this point just further on is The London Dungeon, Britain at War Experience, Tower Bridge Experience and Tower Bridge), we then crossed London Bridge, walking northwards to The Gurkin, we then backed back going back across London Bridge to a fantabuloso Nando's restaurant we had previously walked passed - scrummy food was eaten . After lunch we walked back along the Southbank westwards back to the Millennium Bridge and across until we came to St Pauls Cathedral (admission here is £15 per adult). Walked westwards to Covent Garden where on the edge of the Strand/Covent Garden you will find the Theatre for Lion King . Up to the Piazziari where there are always performers (today 3 in total). Then (take a breath) got the tube to Knightsbridge where we stopped off for coffee before venturing into Harrods - had to take a look at the Pet area - they had Cavalier King Charles Puppies - daughter wants one desparately My glutius maximus is now detached from my limbs, I am starting to seize up from all the walking but boy oh boy did we have a fantastic day out. I shall sleep for England tonight. There are so many other places to go Barbara, this is just a gist of my day. Safe to say I am cream crackered Get the London Pocket Map it will be your saviour ![]() Quote:
Tis Kay and forgot to tell her to go on a boat ride and London Eye :-o - however the water level is down on The Thames atm and the waters edge is not a particularly pretty site
The London Pocket Map will help her no end truly. It was our saviour today. And forgot to say looked for Josie around TV Central and walking back across from St Pauls to Covent Garden we happen to pass Australia House and Melbourne Place :-o :-p. Wondered about going in and asking if they had a prize draw with the winner getting a 3 month stay in Oz Also in Knightsbridge we walked passed this tall bloke and hubs said that's whatshisface - I said who - he said he used to play for Reading FC but only for a short time at the beginning of the season and then went to Portsmouth to play - small world ![]() Quote:
pmsl To be fair my post was full of a load of jibber jabber, nonsensicle, but hopefully Barbara may pick out a few places she'd like to go to and the map is brilliant. Tube map is on there too in case she loses mobile connection ![]() I'm here, don't do facey. Had a brill day but paying for it now :-o There are so many choices, I'm going to try and plan ahead to see as much as I can. I will definitely be getting a map first thing, great tip. I am a map person and like to see it all laid out for perspective. Plus, I don't really know what the mobile situation will be, either.I beg to differ, it was not jibber, jabber at all. It was great information. Hope you were able to get a good night's sleep and not too many sore muscles today. No facebook for me either, only here and a little twitter. |

Jeez Louise....wish you'd been our tour guide when we were there recently. Never saw half of what you did today. Wanted to go on the London Eye but weather wasn't too good, except for the last day when we thought we would do it then. Daughter was very sick and we had to stay in our room the whole day until it was time to leave for our flight.
The hotel manager was great she let us stay foc until it was time to go. ![]() Barbara ...I've got a spare Oyster travel card you can have with a few quid left on it. You can top it up anywhere anytime. Also my daughter downloaded free tubeapp on her IPhone. Brilliant....we were hopping on and off the tube like locals. ![]() ![]() I downloaded an app, called Tube London, last night after I read your post. It looks like it will be very helpful, but I'm not sure I'll have service, or how I'll afford it if I do. ![]() Was researching that last week, but got a little dizzy following the links on my carriers website. Will have to give them a call. You are all spoiling me with all your great advice, tips and offers. Plus everything Kay and Jan have been doing as well. I am being so well taken care of; much love to all the JJJAT, it is and always will be a very special place. Barbara ♥ |

I was advised by mine to turn off data roaming before we went to Florida last year as it's very expensive if you go over your data allowance. Maybe you could switch it on for the few days you are in London? I know we would have been lost on the tubes without it. Hopeless with maps...no sense of direction .... just ask Cathlyn.

Good friends with AJ I reckon. Wonder what he's up to these days. I think he's still involved somewhere in DS. He used to come on the thread and debate with us sometimes. And we'd all be offering him bribes to allow us to have first post. LOLBut I'm sure you all know that because you were all lurkers then. ![]() |
