One of the highlights for me - of the American Idol are the little coaching slots before each performance , where the musical director and the weekly "star" guest gives feedback and suggestions to each artist individually . Last one insaw was Gwen Stefano and this week was Akon ( never heard anyone of his music but he sounded knowledgeable enough).

I wish they Woukd introduce this idea to our XFactor and The Voice . They did a similar thing in Fame Academy years ago .

they did do it in x factor a bit more before with evie or something (the blonde woman) and they do show them rehearsing in their VT, but I agree, a bit of coaching would be interesting.

although even on AI its sort of set up. I don't think they can really tell us much about the coaching process because its probably totally unfair, some people get more time, and some people get lumbered with songs they don't like!

Well it's something that I've always liked , it's been tried on a few different programs over the years , I believe .

I like it too, and I also like the critique that Jimmy gives on the performances before they announce who's safe. Jimmy is one of the best things about Idol this year.

Well wouldn't go that far about being the best thing but although i don't like the coaching session he is slightly better than the judges. But overall he is not good and only just scraped out of the bottom three as the bottom three are Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Who-pez.

Last year i think he was more fair and not biased but this year it is completely different. He should quit while he has a chance. Also take Jennifer Who-pez with him as she has, by a small margin, the closest we have ever seen, gotten the least amount of votes and has been fired/voted off tonight. Oh this is CRAZY of course we WILL NEVER be using the save on you, so leave the show NOW.
