Hi,

After ordering BT infinity and ditching Sky movies, can any one let me know what best Media Streaming device is availlable with Netflix, Lovefilm and internet access and you tube ect.

I have seen one or two but not one unit with all access.

I don't want to use my laptop.

your most flexible option would be to get a media streamer PC. These can be had for around £200 new and can handle any format or web source you can think off as well as the flexibility of a PC.

Thanks for reply. I have a new HD pc which would do the job but i want an independant HD device with optical sound output i can connect to my AV amp.

It's not available yet, but the forthcoming Raspberry Pi home computer will probably do what you want, and more cheaply than anything else. I would imagine it won't be too long before someone brings out a dedicated media streaming app for it.

This has optical out. There is a custom version of XBMC available so you don't need a O/S either.

Another vote for the WD TV Live, it has played everything I've chucked at it. I use it with a USB attached HDD and stream over the network from a NAS.

Looks like WD TV for me also. What's a NAS?

It stands for Network Attached Storage - it's a hard drive connected to your router where you can stream videos, photos, music etc. over your home network.

I have one like this,

EDIT If it's only one TV you want to use it's probably easier and cheaper just to use a USB attached HDD.

just get a games console

more and more apps available all the time and they double up as DVD players , media players and even a Blu Ray player like the PS 3 .

I have a Xbox 360 and it will play off the NAS I have no problem. You are better getting a NAS with an ethernet rather than a USB , so it plugs into your router and is therefore wireless

the NAS can be accessed by SMART tvs , blu ray players, iphones , ipod touch , network radios etc as well as laptops/ PCs
