More iphone 5 hype

I just love all the hype that Apple seem to churn out weeks before a new iphone or ipad comes out. After reading the link below, if its true it does look a cracking piece of kit!

Some interesting ideas, but doubt they'll throw all that in there.

The laser keyboards have been around for a while.
3D cameras - as they are right now - are purely a gimmic.
Face recognition - gimmic.
Separate image processor - Nokia are having to do that in the 808 due to the volume of data from the image sensor, unsure why its required on the iPhone?

However the "no SIM" is very, very unlikely.

There is a lot in common with Android if you think about it.

Android has load of strange beta things such as Google Goggles we can all waste time with if we install.
The iPhone in a similar vein has stuff we can all waste time with . They just happen to be built in.
iPhone 5 will have new toys too.

must admit im curious about the "No Home Button" unless its gonna be a touch screen swipe or something similar! Either way Apple are gonna have to come out with something very revolutionary after the anti climax of the iphone 4S.

Android have done away with buttons in their latest release (ICS), You can add buttons via the software, if so desired. However some manufactures are still adding 'physical' buttons.

I cant see the iphone5 looking like the concept picture. Apple will have to produce one hell of a phone to compete with the latest quad core Android offerings. Time will tell if they have or not.

Unlikely to be a Summer release... and i doubt it will look anything like that!

What a load of b*****ks. Apple are very good at keeping things under wraps so I do not believe any of it. One thing I cannot see is a 4.6" screen. Apple are committed to the 4:3 aspect ratio so a 4.6" display would be way to wide - 4" max with 4:3 ratio and drop the massive bezels and it should be well usable. Lets see.

Correct.

I don't get why the OP has said "the hype that Apple seem to churn out". Apple hasn't done this. Its some sad loner in his bedroom with absolutely nothing else to do but dream about his ideal phone from Apple. There has been many mock ups and as always every single one of them are wrong.

As for the screen, I'm not sure. For apple to remain in the game they must eventually drop 4:3 and get with the times.

If it means devs have to resize apps, then so be it. Its not exactly a huge thing to do.

The one thing i do think we will see in this next release is it stupidly called, The New iPhone and also a 4.3" screen.

All the iPhone screens are 6:4 (1.5:1) in landscape, not 4:3

The iPad is 4:3

I concur though, it will be very interesting to see what Apple go for screen-wise for the next iteration of the iPhone.

Sim free ideas are true. Apple have patented it and I imagine it will be in there next handset.

Nah, that's a long way off, and may not happen at all. You're right that Apple have designed a card-less implementation but even if that does appear it will be used alongside physical SIM cards. ESTI, who set the standards for mobile telecoms in Europe, are looking at new SIM card proposals at the moment and Apple have submitted a proposal that uses physical SIM cards.

There's a rival proposal on the table from Nokia, also using physical SIM cards and it'll be a while before there's any movement on which standard will be used going forwards.

SIM cards will be staying, at least for another 5 years or so.

Rush thanks for the correction. 6:4 filed away for future use. I still can't see a 4.6" iPhone though, but surely the whopper big bezels have got to go.

Indeed for something like this to work, all the carriers would have to work together and every phone would have to have some sort of chip still to authenticate it.

I'm loving the concept but I doubt Thr iPhone 5 will look like that.
