Dinner decisions

Firstly, I hope I have spelt decision right

But I just wondered if anyone else gets fed up of deciding what you are having for dinner. Do you do it alone, or do you split it with your partner / kids ?

I make all the food decisions at home as my husband would survive on beans and toast if I let him. I am sometimes really good (I have been this week) and I make sure that i plan and get the meat out of the freezer ... but other times I just cant be bothered.

I also hate the fact that you have to plan sometimes the night before what you will want to eat 24hrs later just so something can be defrosting. I will get to dinner that evening and not really fancy whats on the plate.

Are you an organised person and make a menu for the entire week ? I have never been able to do that as I do get a fancying for something ... and so I would swop and change all the time, so whats the point.

My husband said that he could never plan the meal options as it would drive him mad. But what he doesn't get is that it often drives me mad. Even when he cooks (once a flood) I even have to tell him what to cook. After 20yrs ... Im running out of ideas.

I do 99% of the cooking in our house. I don't mind the cooking too much but like you I am the one who has to decide what we are eating day after day, after day, after day, after day... Even when my partner or daughter cook, hardly ever, I have to help them decide what to cook etc etc.

I have food for about 3 meals available at anyone time so that I can decide nearer the time what we are going to eat, taking into account what I fancy, changing plans, how many of us are eating, how long I have to cook it, how long they have to eat it etc etc.

So in my fridge I might have at any one time 3 things say: A stew or casserole I made earlier which can be heated up quickly, some meat or fish to make a special meal and also ingredients to make a quick bowl of pasta or omelette etc with salad.

I cook so I decide!

Sometimes I get fed up always have to think up what we are going to eat BUT for the most part I do enjoy cooking, shopping for ingredients and making something yummy happen

I am sick to death of deciding what to have. Its never ending. I can never think of any meals to make, and I'm sick of the food we do eat. I wish my husband would do it occasionally but it would just end up being stuff you chucked in the oven every night.

The thing is, i dont mind cooking the meal, but occaisonally i would like someone else to make the decision of what to have. BUT, if i ask my husband what he wants for dinner he says one of two things "whatevers easiest" or "what are my options".

Grrrrrrrrrr.
