What a beautiful second album, Alex made a good shout delaying the album. Heartbreak On Hold is a great introduction - love Alex's powerhouse vocals commanding over a dance track, then straight into Elephant/Let It Go - brilliant stuff. This Love Will Survive is probably the track I like the least, it's a solid song but a bit fillery - Beating Still could have came in here to keep the pace going after Let It Go! Fire takes us full throttle again, I can see where the Saturdays comparisons come from, this has major single potential!
Between the Sheets/Daylight Robbery are both beautiful mid-tempo tracks too, although not immediate single candidates they should be considered if Alex wants to show a different sound/vibe from the album. Between the Sheets reminds me a little bit of Leona Lewis' I Got You, which isn't a bad thing cause I love that song too!
Tonight - another dance gem, would prefer Fire/Beating Still/HoH released over it though!
Love you that Much - Very retro sounding and a good song. Reminds me of Beyonce's Love on Top, which by no means is a bad thing!
Oh La La - Major dance track! Yet another single candidate, could have Bad Romance/On the Floor type success.
Sitting on Top of the World - Great song, can definitely hear Robyn's With Every Heartbeat from the start!
What Money Can't Buy: This song shuts up every hater out there. Alex can sing and this is an example of her finally letting go and using all of her vocal power to the extreme! What a moving and powerful song, an instant favourite!
Devil In Me: A playful, harmless track. Not sure if I'm a fan or not, might take more plays! The whoa oh oh at the start of the chorus was annoying at first but it could be a grower!
Beating Still: Easily the best track on the entire album, should have been on the main version - it has single potential, I hope Alex's team realise this what with it being the most popular/downloaded track from the album so far on iTunes.
The acoustics: All equally beautiful, nothing more I love than hearing an artists raw voice and when you have a voice like Alexandra's then even better! She should consider an acoustics EP or something, would love to own more acoustic studio versions of her songs and the covers too - especially Jealousy and Talk that Talk!
Overall a brilliant album that I can tell Alexandra's worked really hard on. Although not part of the album itself, Alex's team shouldn't bother with anymore singles unless they can persuade the radio stations to stop snubbing her/get back on board, because without that support, Alex's future releases aren't gonna go anywhere. Heartbreak on Hold is an instant summer album and great pop effort. 4/5!
