Homechoice vs Freeview
Indiekid
06-11-2004
Hi, I am about to get Homechoice soon (signed up for installation). I only got Freeview at the moment. While HC offers a number of new channels, I just found out there are also a number of Freeview channels which are not on the HC list. They are:

Sky Travel
TMF
The Hits
Sky Sports

Is there anymore? I was thinking to sell my Freeview box once I got HC. Maybe it is worth to keep it and just switch the TV over to Freeview when I want to watch those channels!

Would like to know the opinions of Homechoice and Freeview channel lineup (assuming no HC TV bundle taken).

HC has the fairly big advantage of channels like E4 and UK Gold, which you'd have to buy a Top Up TV card for if you went with Freeview.

I assume by 'Sky Sports' you mean Sky Sports News - granted this is missing on HC, but you do have the option to subscribe to the full Sky Sports service - which you wouldn't have on Freeview.

The loss of TMF/The Hits is not really a big issue if you subscribe to the music package on HC - but if you don't this may be a problem as there aren't any free music channels on HC. You could always plug your freeview box in as well though...

I assume you aren't bothered by the fact you can't get all the shopping channels on HC!

VMX Taste is free though has a fairly limited selection to choose from.

Thanks, the channel line up of HC does beat Freeview and Topup TV. The only channel I really like HC to have is Sky One! You cannot get this in any of their bundles or even their Sky upgrades (they only have Sky movies and sports channels). I don't understand how they could miss out that one (as it is a popular channel I believe)!

It won't be by HC's choice, believe me. I suspect the word 'contracts' may feature somewhere in the mix....
