Attractive women being given a hard time once again. It really is difficult being beautiful in this day and age, it used to be something that was admired, now it's just ridiculed.
As well as dumbing down on intelligence I guess we'll have to start making ourselves look like piglets to be sociably acceptable.

i have no problem with people being good looking, but ive never liked people acknowledging it publically

whatever happened to modesty?

although she was probably specifically asked about it by the bbc so its different

So funny to see so many reacting to something that wasn't even said. She didn't say that life was hard being attractive, she said that it had its advantages and disadvantages, but just you try and stop everyone re-using their tired-ass Samantha Brick jokes that weren't even funny in the first place.

Yes, it's pretty puffed-up to just throw out that you think you're attractive (even in response to a direct question about being an attractive businesswoman as this probably was) but good grief Charlie Brown, at least she IS what she's puffing herself up to, unlike all the candidates who declare themselves to be intelligent, talented and the Greatest Salesperson In Europe.

She IS good-looking (imo). I'm gay, but I'd turn for her!

She might be, put it is impossible to tell with all those layers of make-up obscuring her face.

Typical daily mail fodder - another misogynistic article. And they spelt 'Sterling' wrong, lol. Still, it gets linked to and discussed on here, so they're doing something right.

Also, it was just a one-off line where she described herself as attractive, as compared to Samantha Brick's lengthy articles in which she appears to think she is something really, really exceptional, which she really isn't.

It's not looks (or intelligence) that grates with people, it's the arrogance of stating that they're good looking or super intelligent that gets them ridiculed.

Absolutely. The Mail made a lot of money out of the Samantha Brick articles in advertising revenue- no surprises that they are trying to cash in again by generating some kind of controversy that simply doesn't exist. It's blatant stirring, trying to generate vitriol towards a woman and cash in. They'll try it again, because page hits = money.

"Several viewers" wrote on twitter that they didn't think Laura should say she is attractive? That's hardly the basis for an article.

This spoof wiki article on the Mail is pretty funny

The Mail's spell-checker must have broken. They misspelled 'uncouth' in an earlier Apprentice item:

Quote:
“Not impressed: Shopkeepers found the girls' sales approach rude and uncooth”

If you scroll down this link to the ninth photo you'll see the mistake:

Totally agree.

Whether someone is good looking or not, modest and self respect normally prevent them from telling everyone how good looking they are.

Laura rated herself the best performer too - but that didn't get mentioned, I suppose.

Sugar once said his beauty put off a lot of people and made it harder for him to succeed in business.

Beauty comes from within....someone needs to remind her of this!!

And WHY wasn't she fired, seriously???? she wasn't that great!!

Perhaps she felt that she had to say this to the camera because it's some sort of mantra she performs every morning in front of the mirror and it makes her feel important.

It's for others to comment on my appearance and to me this is totally irrelevant.

I am academically able and have qualifications as proof, though there are times when some point out that academia does not necessarily equate to common sense. I like that - it's my claim to being human.

I have a successful and challenging career that in most respects I've achieved with drive, determination and confidence, but never have I tried to attain my goal by trampling over others to climb the greasy pole. A successful manager/employer needs the respect of his/her team and/or staff to establish success in their managerial skills. Unsubstaniated claims of mega success, by disallowing nothing and no one to get in the way isn't really a recipe for success.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. i.e. results speak for themselves; a lesson few of The Apprentices have learnt.

I like a pretty face like anyone but in the Apprentice I think there are more important things that should be coming out of her mouth to validate what she can offer to bag the prize.

I'm not gonna deny that having looks of some noticeable degree can be helpful in business (I'm sure) but doubt this aspect will be Sugars number one tick box. Keep you eyes on the prize Laura, not the mirror. And if I were her then I'd automatically ignore Daily Mail comments anyway, they tend to troll more than have anything balanced to say (last time I checked).

I don't think many subjects should be off limits. We're adults. She knows how people treat her and how they treat her colleagues. She can draw the obvious conclusions. When asked about her career, I don't see why she shouldn't be allowed to mention an issue that has affected it.

Arrogance is not an attractive trait. People should know better than to brag about their looks on tv. She's not that good looking anyway. She looks like a stroppy barbie

she's not that attractive IMO, she wears a lot of makup, which has no place for business.

Imagine me as a guy turning up in a board meeting with a clown face painting on. I'd get thrown out.

Laura has indicated she was responding to a leading question. She was presumably asked something about what it was like as an attractive businesswoman or something, and answered. She wasn't bragging. I'm sure she'll approach any media questions with much greater suspicion from now on.

She stated she was an attractive business woman. I don't know what kind of 'leading question' leads to that. Seems to me more like she is now embarrassed by her arrogance and is making excuses.

It's not just that anyway. I find her quite annoying in general.

She looked pretty good to me in that gym outfit.
