No they dont, some might, but most just get a £ or two per delivery , like waiters and waitresses most of their wages are made up with tips. If it wasn't for tips it would not be worth their while doing it and the shop would have to charge more for delivery
PS. I'm not tight and ALWAYS give a tip in a restaurant, usually between 10-15% of total cost but will not tip for takeaways. Quite often I don't even have any change in the house when it's delivered. |

No. Luckily none of our pizza delivery drivers even stop to give you time for a tip. To my mind 'free delivery' means exactly that. If the drivers need more money they should discuss it with their employer.

Yep always. It's a shitty job with shitty pay and they're saving me a lot of hassle by bringing it to my door.

Usually two or three takeaways a week (we're ridiculously busy and often it's hit 9pm before anyone thinks of food -- fortunately our son has his dinner at childcare!). Pizza Hut for us is £25 on a deal we always use and we pay by card and give £2 or £3 on the door, or if we have cash then we give £30 and let them have the change. Chinese is usually £40-ish and we give £45 on the door, or if we've paid by card, we'll give £4 or £5 in change.
Both of us paid our dues in the service industry way back when so we're aware of how much tips count. Good service at a restaurant will earn them £10-£15 from us, hairdresser this morning got £11 tip, etc. |

Yeah usually just a quid or a bit more if it's rounded up to £20.

As already been said others pay by card but also tip, so saying it like that.. as if you pay by card then no tip needed, is odd. You either tip or you dont makes no odds how you pay.

Not everyone has spare cash in the house, hence the convenience of online payment. Also, unlike a previous poster who says they give 10 to 15 pounds tip in a restaurant, sadly we are not all in a financial position to do that.

I always do and I always tip taxi drivers too. Neither job pays well, it's the tips that keep them afloat.

I always give them a £1 tip at the door. It may not be much, but they are always grateful

45euro, sorry. I always use the pound sign when I mean euro! But still, they're expensive around here.
Edit: don't say if you don't want to, just realised that was quite pertinent of me to ask

Are you in Dublin by any chance? The most expensive Chinese meal I ever had was there.

Waterford. I dread to think how much we'd pay for the same order in Dublin...
And my takeaway delivery guy always gets a €1 tip, even though there is a local delivery charge of €2, I just think it's worth it to let me have a few drinks and and not have to walk down to collect it! |

I pay by card at Pizzahut.co.uk and never use cash for anything so don't tip. If there was a tip on the website feature, I would probably leave around 50p. Its quite an easy job imo and they are already getting paid without tips.

I figure if i'm fortunate enough to be able to afford luxuries like delivered takeaways then a couple of quid to the poor sod trying to make ends meet doing a crappy job is a small price to pay.
