Campaign to get a half-decent song for G4!

......Assuming they manage to get through tonight (and I honestly don`t know how it will go), Louis Walsh is evidently not capable of choosing a song for them that does justice to them - just when we though his choice this week could not be as bad as last week, the poor things are about to lose all credibility. So with this in mind can we G4 fans between us come up with a couple of suggestions that we can somehow get to Louis Walsh and his team (either by e-mail to the show direct or to his offices (anyone with e-mail addresses would be appreciated). Now much as we all enjoyed a laugh on the alternative song suggestion thread, can we please keep this serious guys. We need to get our suggestions through by hopefully tomorrow. Who knows, he might just probably discard our ideas, but hopefully he might just take on board what we are trying to say. We can at least give it a go.

My 2 suggestions would both be power ballads as I feel either would do justice to the power and range of their voices and much as I would have loved to have gone for Bohemian Rhapsody I don`t see how it can be condensed down to 90 seconds as it is so disjointed.

1. Vienna by Ultravox......already proving to be popular with a few of us - great power ballad with the "goosebump" effect.

2. The Sun Aint Gonna Shine Any More - The Walker Brothers - again another great power ballad

I would like to wish the boys all the luck in the world tonight because they are sure going to need it - I have a feeling they may well pull in extra "sympathy" votes tonight - I just dread Simon Cowell`s comments - although I think any critcism will (rightly) be directed at Louis and not the boys. I for one will double my usual votes for them in the hope they get through and hopefully they may get to sing one of our suggestions - fingers and everything else crossed

There are a number of "Beach Boys" possibilities, but I would go with Mrs Kippery's choice of "Get Around" (- good tempo, great harmonies).

Of course there is also "God Only Knows"... (what Louis is up to.... )

How about Beatles song - All you need is Love, Hey Jude,
Day Tripper, or Cant buy me Love.
Knocking on heavens door
Hotel California
Barcelona - Freddie Mercury
Celebration - Kool and the Gang (theyd need to dance a bit too)
So amazing - Luther Vandross

I think there were so many great choices on a thread already. Obviously Louis doesnt read these boards.
Vienna is a great choice. I would also like to hear Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers
Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton
Get Here - Oleta Adams
But there are so many choices than the ones that Louis is picking at the moment.

Unchained melody - an excellent suggestion ArtyAttack.

Simon and Garfunkel spring to mind for G4 for me. I know it would be a bit safe, but I'm thinking Scarborough Fair, The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson etc.....

G4 desperately need something "safe" in this series. The choices they have had the last couple of weeks have been extremely outlandish.

.....at least their song choice this week is getting pre-show publicity - in The Sun today and the News section of this forum - I also think it is their turn to do "the graveyard slot" of being on first (or 2nd) tonight, so the odds are really stacked up against them.

I was saying on another thread that I'd like to hear them do some traditional 'folky' types of stuff. Some Scottish or Irish songs....i think G4 would be great at some of this....

Now....oooooooh, what about Clannad....'Theme from Harry's Game'? Or 'In a Lifetime'?

My husband and I have mosty Scottish blood with a good bit of Irish thrown in a couple of generations back. We're dark with terribly pale skin. So white, we're Daz blue....burn up in the sun really quickly.

.......Dear God, please, please, please don`t let our beloved G4 go out of the competition tonight. I know they have been given the most horrendous, dreadful, vile song on the planet (well almost) but please make their devoted fans vote extra, extra tonight and save them.........thank you.....Amen.

I think that's the idea. There's nothing like bad song choices to make the die hard fans vote in their thousands.

I still maintain they could surprise everyone with this song and if they pull it off they're laughing.

I think Madonna's "You'll See" would be a good song for them.

What about 'Frozen' by Madonna....that 'Oooooh, ooooh, ooh, ooh, if I could melt your heart' bit would be good?

.......I`m ashamed to say I may well be slightly drunk when I watch the show tonight (having already started on the Australian Red ......at 1pm and the cans of Stella in the fridge are chilling nicely, so would my fellow G4 fans please fill me in with all the details in case I lapse into a daze before their performance (I hold Louis Walsh ENTIRELY responsible for this).....I only usually partake of the odd glass of vino but this week`s song choice has made me extremely nervous and when I`m nervous I drink

Pen, just sip slowly and drink lots of water...if you're so rattled, you won't be able to phone in!

That's one of my favourite songs of all time. If G4 sang The Sun Aint Gonna Shine Any More and pulled it off, I'd be totally impressed. But while I'm sure they have the vocal power, I very much doubt that they have the passion or emotional expression - and I'm not at all sure I'd want to hear them try.

G4 describe themselves quite modestly as a barbershop quartet, and that's exactly what they are. And there's nothing wrong with that genre whatsoever. If they had been allowed to choose all their own material, they'd probably have been going from one great show-stealing performance to the next through this competition. They should be allowed to be different, and to play to their own strengths.

Good ideas. I think some of us should get a consortium together and manage G4 ourselves. We would make a much better job of it. I would, of course, want to be responsible for what they wear - nice tight vest for Jonathan then.
