Capital Radio
Why do they play the same songs, over, and over again?
They seem to have Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay on an infinite loop. |

I don't actually mind the frequency that Capital replay songs. I mean, they generally wait about 3 hours before repeating a song, which isn't as bad as people make out.
The MAIN problem for me with Capital is the amount of time they keep these songs on repeat. They're still playing songs from 2010 on a daily basis. It's ridiculous. I wouldn't mind them playing a song every 3 hours if they only played that song for a couple of months, but some songs they're playing all the time for like 2 years (e.g. Only Girl by Rihanna). That's the main problem imo. Of course, I don't mind them playing an older song occasionally, but not the same older songs every day. They need to stop playing We Found Love and Someone Like You now. Just crank down their plays to once or twice a week and play something else. |

Their playlist seems to have gone from bad to worse. Back in the day Galaxy would at least have a niche in the market, they played Dance,R&B and Urban songs that Radio1 and other commerical stations would miss...Capital now play nothing but the same 5-10 bland songs on repeat.
as a commerical station I appeciate they have to appeal to a mass-audience to attract advertisers and make money, and that therefore they are unlikely to 'break' new artists or play unusual genre's....but there are more 'mainstream' songs out there than the limited playlist they play. |

Capital has the least varied playlist in the known universe - I've heard the same song repeated within the hour before now. Even if I like some of the stuff on their rotation, I wouldn't listen to Capital regularly because it would put me off.

I wish they would play more new music! I haven't heard the new single 'Where Have You Been' by Rihanna or 'End of Time' by Beyonce yet! I haven't even heard 'Talk That Talk'! They're constantly stuck on old songs that are now out of the top 40 like 'Earthquake' and 'We Found Love'

I cannot listen to Capital anymore, when it was Galaxy it was actually quite good but the playlist is awful and so repetitive. I remember at work once hearing the same 3 songs twice in about an hour and a half.
They still play We found love constantly but snubbed you da one and talk that talk and they completly snubbed GaGa last year apart from born this way the single. If I hear the wanted again I won't be responsible for my actions either. |

I would rather never listen to any music ever again than have to listen to Capital. They're a joke, not to mention a disgrace to real music.

i suppose that's "hit music radio" or whatever it's called for you.
i used to listen to the breakfast show first thing in the morning when i got up and went online to read the papers e.t.c.. but now i find i listen to "Chill" online .. much better and gentler for early mornings ! |

Complete agree, even worse is their TV ads featuring said artists whose music they play to death. Just makes it clear what a hype-machine, 'cliquey' mentality the station has with their artists in the 'in-crowd'.

Capital have never, ever played the same song twice in an hour guys. I know you're making that up.
![]() I agree though, it was better when it was Galaxy. They used to play RnB, hip hop and dance tunes, but now I've noticed they've gone VERY pop. Very bubble-gum pop they play now, but I remember when I was younger I used to hear stuff like 50 Cent, DJ Sammy, etc. on there. I just can't imagine Capital playing songs like those anymore. If any of you want a radio station that's similar to what Galaxy used to be, Choice FM is good. It's run by the same company, and it's less repetitive, more variety, and they play album tracks, and every hour they play an "old school" track aswell, so you hear some songs from years and years ago which you used to love. They play a lot of songs that never touch the charts, but it's still quite mainstream at the same time. |

They choose not toplay certain artists regardless of the success of the music-Will Young's Jealousy is a case in point-it wasn't played once
.Alexandra Burke is also snubbed completely - I have no idea why they do this when others, like Olly Murr's for instance is played ad nauseum whatever he releases! |

I wish they'd playlist Beyonce's new material. It is brilliant. Also their in house rearing thing is very dangerous, and further places a stronghold on the singles charts. |

Yeah he does, well done to him though. I liked his first 2 singles. I find it odd though, I NEVER once thought they'd play him at all. I thought Radio 1 had a big anti-XF vendetta. Seems they don't.

Its awful isn't it? Radio 1 is the same, I assume promoters have to pay for music to be put on their play lists..because it is literally the same few songs going round and round until you're sick of them
![]() Capital plays the top20 on loop, all day everyday. |

Radio 1 is alright but takes itself too seriously. Capital on the otherhand is just one big advert for Global Talent.
