Capital Radio is part of Global Radio
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Radio
Global [
http://www.thisisglobal.com/ ] also have publishing & talent divisions. If any artist have ongoing management / promotion deals OR have publishing contracts with Global then they favour them as far as airplay goes.It seems to be very difficult to find out (searching through the internet browser) who has contracts with 'Global'.It's all about self promoting a % of their own product.
As you may know, every time a single gets played on a air, a music licensing fee is paid to the copyright holder [
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_licensing ].It sounds like if an artist has a publishing / management / promotion deal with 'Global' they can pay themselves a % of that licensing fee ?? (there is a % reduction of the licensing fee with the copyright holder ??).It's all a way of keeping their costs down really & having a commercial advantage over their competitors, although Global Radio is still loosing money (on paper )
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011...bal-radio-loss .Don't think this was the way the licensing was set out to work really. Not sure I agree with the Licencing Fee / radio airplay idea at all these days in the context of how the modern music industry works in the digital age.
