I think Hollyoaks ought to ask themselves if their job is to make good drama or to make public-service broadcasts. I get that they claim to feel a degree of responsibility towards the predominantly young viewing audience, and yet they have no qualms about depicting murder, grievous bodily harm, drug dealing, robbery, theft, under-age sex, unsafe sex, etc. Gay dosmetic abuse seems to be the one area that they are squeamish about representing. Incidentally, as unpalatable as it might be, it is far from unrealistic that a victim of domestic abuse would keep going back for more and would still love the abuser.

I noticed a Stally fanpage still exists and they "hope they can work it out". I can't help but feel they're going to be very, very disappointed.

That's awkward. I mean didn't they see that magical gay hug between ste and doug? Surely that's his love interest right there.

That lovely quote is from DS's very own Kieron Richardson appreciation thread

As for what they were paid ... I hope it was worth the price of their soul, cos if not, they were ripped off

And surely by dropping the DV storyline (and including that punch in January with no aftermath) they are, infact, being far more dismissive of the topic and actually dealing with it, would be.

Apparently not.

Maybe Ste can hug Ally too. #Triangle

Im watching an episode of Trial and Retribution and Jess Fox is playing a blinder in it.

What a good actress she is.

She is probably too good for HOs.

See! I'm keeping saying how brilliant she is and no one listens.

She's easily one of the best child actors I've ever seen too. I hate how underused she is when certain other female characters dominate the show.

She can cry like no one else, too.

She is brilliant in this MrL really good.

I hate Nancy, she is a horrible character but Jess is a really talented actor.

They really should use her more.

However much I hated the miscarriage storyline she made it really touching

Yeah, I wish they'd do a lot more with her and Darren. I presume they'll have her get pregnant again soon, and all the associated drama that goes with that, but still.

The scene where she was on the forum and started screaming about how she wanted another baby was one of my scenes of the year so far.

Ha oh .

If they're trying to go all out on the messgae DV stuff then they would have Brendan go to court. They're not going to do that because he's been so successful.

It's hard not to feel that Brendan is already being pushed out by the show (and fans in general) because Stug are "now" and the new Klaine and Brendan's offerings seem to be teaching padawan Joel. Maybe it's just a misguided feeling.

As I've said I am even quite intrigued and interested by Stug, my biggest fear is that it'll be at the expense of Brendan and he'll end up being resented by people who've swapped ships or who have always liked Stug.

ETA: I forgot to wail dramatically like I'm a Belieber *WAIL* I hope that's satisfactory for the thread monitors.

BIB:

But yes, that's my fear too. I worry about the strength of Brendan's material away from Ste based on what we've had already this year and like you, I hope to God he's not going to start being hated cos the show characterise him as the thorn in the side of Stug.

Talk to us, Emma. Give me a hint about what you actually plan to do with Brendan this year.

This week's teaser is rubbish, by the way.

Basically, it's Friday's Jelly moments, with some added Rhys, Jacqui and Phoebehh.

So here's a pic of Tony to sexually arouse you all.

mojo, can you share with me what intrigues and interests you about Stug dynamically as a couple? Because without any outside forces causing conflict and drama, what have they got?

I really want to see it and feel at all excited about it myself, but I can't. It makes absolutely no sense to me, and it wouldn't because Doug was never gay and it isn't believable otherwise that Ste would be attracted in return.

I guess use of the word 'relationship' by Kieron doesn't mean it lasts.

*weeps and cries*

Oh PISS OFF, Joel.

And I like Joel.

See, this is what I mean! Can Brendan have a story, please?

Guys, Andrew Still is very quiet on Twitter lately, as in silent, and I can't remember him being mentioned in work since that day he posed with Emmett and Bronagh.

Even that night shoot was Bronagh, Emmett and Jorgie, bizarrely. You don't think Joel possibly croaks it?

It's just the same old thing, isn't it LMan? Never ending cycle of Brendan vs Joel.

Andrew's always been extremely quiet on twitter, hasn't he? I can't remember him tweeting much about work. I think Joel could be killed off...viewers aren't that invested in him, so it could be a good, shocking decision I guess, along the lines of Danny. I personally hope he's not, I really like him and think he's got loads of potential away from Brendan. But you could be right.

Just because Kieron said maybe a relationship doesnt mean that its going to be a ever after

Whenever I feel a bit down about it I think about how after they are in their relationship for even a few months well where is the story after that it surely cant just be a case of them running the deli and being together. I do believe that HO want us to think its over for Stendan

If its just Brendan meddling in Stug thats basically just Noah revisited I just cant see it

I think it's less about them as a couple that interests me than how they get there. PJ is doe eyed well enough to make his confusion watchable to me, I think. Plus I'll be interested just to see if they actually have any chemistry. I do wonder if Doug is going to want to keep it a secret and whether that will cause conflict.

I don't think them as a couple will make me dislike them but probably people treating them as the second coming might make me like them less than I would have done, if I'm honest. I can't see them being special enough to warrant the fuss which they'll inevitably have. Their dynamic isn't unique enough I think. Same way I don't like Riley and Lynsey - they're inoffensive, cute, good for each other and well suited but there's no drama in that. I'd rather have the morally implicated, fame conflict and reputation struggle that Ritzeee would have.

I mean, it's obviously building towards this story in May but God almighty, it needs to be a tighter, more purposeful story. It just seems like a bunch of little moments all strung together.

Yes, he never mentioned work much but I do remember we used to hear he was there from tweets or set pics or something. But now, nothing but silence. And the only people we know Emmett's definitely filmed with are Mr X, Bronagh and Karen...

This is where I am.

I'm a sucker for an angsty story.

Plus I love ickle Kieron and PJ.

I know.

I'd be very, very surprised if he died. But I am a bit suspicious. We know he was in work for the week or so after the stabbing scene, but in fairness, that could be for earlier scenes.

I hope he does die. Not because I don't like him, just cos it would be good viewing.

I liked Warren too, but I really wanted him to get killed.

Not sure what that says about me as a person

Yes, we know that it'll become a deeper, darker plot at some point. I just don't know whether I'll care enough.

Hmmm...mysterious. I do reckon he might be killed off at some point, but not this early, I don't think. Still forever crossing my fingers that Mr X is Pa.

Your poor Joel

I agree with this, Mojo. PJ will make it watchable for me (and of course Kieron, but then I always knew he would, as he even made Note watchable in my opinion.)

And I can see myself appreciating them as a couple, as long as they're not shoved down our throats as each others 'ones'. Just let them be what they are, writers, and not what Stendan should have been.
