Oh little Mut

He`s had some very important training today, that is, sitting in the pub and he was a very good boy.

I think the landlord thought we had taken root, as we spent quite a long time in the pub (we had a lot of catching up to do) and eating of course and drinking tea and hoping the rain would go away (it has rained non stop since noon yesterday).

We eventually ventured out and went for a walk in the rain and were a very soggy trio at the end of it, in fact, I don`t think we have had a dry day since Nelson arrived and he seems to be a permanently soggy doggy, not that it worries him much.

Major drama with talk talk email of course .... their whole system was shut for maintenance (heavens knows why as nothing ever works so heavens knows what happens with the maintenance) ... can't access email from my computer only my phone as they reset the passwords .... shall save another call to them until I get home this evening .... I hate it when the computer / phone doesn't work. I only got computer happy as I was having so many problems viewing on demand programmes ... later I thought that perhaps wifi was the problem but at the time I just thought I'd "tidy" the computer.
Which browser do you use. I find Firefox the most stable and it works best with all of my systems.it has a very useful security feature which I find invaluable.
You click on the Firefox tab, choose preferences from the drop down, then security ( the padlock) from there in the passwords bit tick passwords and tick master passwords. Then there is a box to add a master password. Once you have this you can then see all your passwords at a glance; edit your passwords ( remove all those confusing old "misstyped 'ones that pop up.
I use it constantly.

Yes it certainly was a most memorable match. maybe Andy is more used to the rain.

Will have to console myself by watching the football this evening - how exciting if we can beat the French ... my Uncle who is French and I always get into long conversations about who has the best team ... I fear this year he may be right saying the French.
He was WRONG.
I don't know how they did it, luck was so on their side, France played so much better, and that little effort was all without the real Spud.

IC - no way are you approaching 70 - I always imagine you to be just a few years older than me .... I could imagine you at all sorts of rock gigs ... talking of which there was an excellent programme on BBC about the 70s - the punk rock era .... not the best music but it brought back so many memories ...all those musicians had so much energy - they make the ones you have today look so very tame
Yeo, hurtling towards it, not good to think that I'm nearer 70 than 60.
Took my laptop to Apple shop yesterday, it seems it need a new charger/ adapter And a new battery. Have sent for them from eBay. - a fraction of the price.- probably rubbish!
I'm being very careful about what I write her now since my post was removed yesterday. Someone has to report it, the board isn't policed in any way. It's scarey to think that maybe hundreds of randoms read what we write here.

I don't think it's mature enough to fruit yet, one I found last year has fruit coming now - and no Cassmum - there wasn't a baby - I looked.

Sitting in the pub quietly whilst his mistress sups and gorges and yaks is very necessary training for a young mut. I applaud you.

So he is not phased by the inclement weather, he is Nelson, he is afterall a sea dog.

My cat was not too happy in the hot weather but loves the rain. She bursts in through the cat door dripping wet and delight in jumping on us, rubbing her face against us and walking wet muddy paw marks on every surface which she can, particularly the key board.
She just sits out on the terrace for hours, the rain pouring down, just watching the wildlife, I have to fetch her in as it gets dark, she'd be there all night otherwise . Strange cat.

Re

RE - tell me, tell me, tell me - who was the footballer .... or if you can't say on the board PM me .....

Idlecat - thanks for your tip ... I do use Firefox .... for some reason my computer goes bonkers when I use Internet Explorer .... I spent 45 mins on the phone to talk talk last night (waste of a good 45 mins) as he still couldn't figure out why I can't access my emails via Firefox anymore. I despair ... my temper was bubbling over with rage ... in fact I was so mad I had to dive into the freezer and dig out my bottle of Absolut vodka to calm my nerves.... that's what dealing with Talk Talk does for me. So at the moment I can only see my emails on my iPhone ... Talk Talk are looking into it (that means they have no idea what the problem is).. my computer is not even a year old .. I love it as it has a very large screen .... am so regretting using a talk talk email address - if I had given it more thought I should have gone for google or yahoo.

Well I was surprised that England managed a draw against the French and as you say Idlecat the real spud wasn't playing (although I think at times club and country put too much pressure on him to score) .... the French had far more established players than us ....

Am afraid to say that last year's outfit is far too snug .... the middle age spread is spreading.

That's my kind of dog ..... a dog that's happy in a pub ..... I look forward to retirement as I plan to spend many an afternoon in a pub with a soggy doggy .... although I think that with the price of drinks in pubs by the time I reach retirement I'll be lucky if I can afford half a lager .......

Yes, indeed excellent and very necessary training and he sounds as if he is coming along very well!

You have a most odd cat IC - I thought all cats hated getting wet.

A post of yours was removed on this board????

I use Firefox, too. Love it! I love that you can save all your open tabs when you close down as I keep at least 8 open at all times.

I wish we had the same kind of pubs here. The places we have don't serve good food--just fried snack type foods that are really bad for you. Nothing good and tasty like meat pies or Yorkshire pudding or lovely roasted potatoes..... Plus, they're loud with music blasting--not a cosy place to relax. You certainly could not bring a dog inside! It is so incredibly boring living here I cannot tell you. Nothing like knowing you have to waste the rest of your life in a place that bores you to tears. So please wake up every day appreciating how fortunate you are to live in England!

I think I may be able to bring my detector as the electronics part of it does fit in my carry-on. I don't want to pack it in one of my checked bags as stuff like that gets stolen all the time. My pile of "must bring" items is getting bigger....LOL!!

Oh well I have an idea that someone who comes on this thread has an axe to grind. It may have been taken as racist - it was just an in joke to us

I think we need to be careful about what is said regarding LR's future plans.

LarkRiser what sort is your detector?

Yes I love our pubs although the whole pub culture is literally on its knees due to the massive amount of tax the government slap on drinks, that coupled with the no smoking has killed off the old pubs .... gone are the days when the working man would go down the pub for a couple of pints at the end of the day with a good puff on a fag ... nowdays they want to have "family pubs" - I'm probably opening myself up to get my post deleted but I think pubs should be for adults ... they should be places where we can go for a beer, a ciggy and adult conversation ...., I think it is criminal that publicans are forced to close down .... its not surprising ... a pint in a London pub is nearly £4 ... you can get four cans of lager for that price in the supermarket plus you can have a ciggie at home ... once the pub industry goes in England then I think we have lost something dear that defines us.

That would be a terrible tragedy for England to lose its pub culture. It is one of the things I am so fond of when I am there. I like to know there are things there that I can't find in the US. Stupid taxes. My lunchmates and I were just discussing the horrible taxes in California today and how we want to move soon to another state where we can live cheaper.

Bet you've been around there Idlecat!!

Anyway, by my reckoning, I've still got another 23 years of work ahead of me. Oh what joy and bliss!!! Unless they up it to over 70 then I'm just going to chuck the towel in now.

Yeah, they keep raising the retirement age like crazy here, too. Stupid, really, because all it does is keep oldsters taking up all the jobs and there won't be any jobs left for the younger folks. Not to mention, I see so much dementia in people who would not be considered old enough to retire by today's new standards. They are crazy if they keep expecting people to work full time at such an old age.
