Went on a hen night in Bath last night, Gawd it was noisy. The Italian restaurant we went to was in a basement and echoed like a swimming baths.

In the pub, you could hardly hear yourself think and it was nearly as bad outside in the street.

Must reeeaally be getting old..........

Could you girlies PM me your phone numbers so I have them handy when I land?
Well at least you are getting organised! As you know I will be with IC but will PM you my numbers.

He is absolutely shattered tonight. We went for a long walk through the woods at Badminton this afternoon.
RC cooked a roast beef dinner, all I had to do was make the gravy. Much to my surprise (and his, I think) it was very nice.
Aaw! Nelson sounds just so lovely though a tad difficult to live with! Lol! My brother has a West Highland Terrier and has been offered a black Scottie dog that needs rehoming. How good would they look together! Just too cute!

Sounds horrific - not my cup of tea either. Our shopping centre is like that too with all the echoes. Horrible.

The weekend forecast is rubbish too, there just seems no end to it, I feel sorry for the people getting married, and all the village fetes and fairs that people work so hard organising. It wouldn`t be so bad if it was warm rain. I have a wedding to go to the following weekend, hope it cheers up by then but I don`t hold out much hope.

Went to fetch eldest grandaughter from Girl Guides tonight and as we were waiting outside the door found myself singing along with their song `Day is Done`. Its a long time since I sang that. Youngest grandaughter looked amazed that I knew it. I did mention that they looked a scruffy lot of Guides, not smart like we used to be, not that I liked Guides and left as soon as I could. She loves it. Youngest grandaughter has just moved up from Rainbows to Brownies and she loves it too.
I was Girl Guide too, and before that a Brownie and a Tweenie ( just like the young kitchen maids in Victorian times) and when I was older was Baloo assisting my sister run her cub pack - she was Akela the leader.
We were all very smart and so were our little cubs, lanyards neat, belts and shoes polished and always with those little green caps on.

Thought my bedroom window was going to cave in at 2 am this morning with the force of the rain.

And then mid morning.............the rain on my face actually hurt me the way it was coming down.

Fed, fed, fed up of it.
Yesterday was pretty decent here, no actual rain and I managed to work and rest outside for most of the day. Overnight rain though, and quite fine up to now.

I will have to keep an eye on your weather forecast so I will know what to pack. Can't believe what wild weather you are still having! It is a miserably hot weekend where I am at--I think it got up to 105 here yesterday (40 C) and today is to be 103. Shorts, light cotton top and sandals for me today.

Been thinking about the details of the 'original' story I hope to write. I want to set it in New Hampshire where pre-Revolutionary homes stood so now I know where to direct my research. I'm starting to get fired up for writing it now!

Enjoy your evening now! It is just morning here and Father's Day so will be going to my sister's for bbq hamburgers for my dad.
Still can't find my detector, I fear I may have left it up the yard, I've been to look but no sign of it.

Larkriser are you saying that your new novel is set NOT in England

I've had a couple of days away up in Northamptonshire, watched my Grandson do his belt grading for the Korean Martial arts that he does. Note to self - do not refuse him ANYTHING in future.
Had some great meals out, both places next to narrow boat moorings on the canal. My son and his partner were musing over the idea of making a home in one if they could find one for sale. Observing the boats which passed by it seems that it's compulsory to have 2 little dogs on board. They qualify, L. has a Pug and a Collie cross.
Shall we plan a narrow boat trip - pref with a horse?

Oh, no! Any chance it's in a shed?? Under the bed??

Well, not at this point. BUT, my lead male character IS an Englishman, although his mother is American (picture Rufus Sewell as my lead male). The reason he is over in New England is his grandparents have died and left him their estate. I have been going back and forth whether to set it in England, though. It would be better in some ways but not in others. Will give you guys a rundown of what it's about when we get together and see what you think.

No you're getting old .... I HATE loud restaurants ... there is a fab little Italian place near me but having been twice and listened to the racket I haven't been back in years. You don't even to have many people to make this place sound like a disco ..... I hate it as I find noise totally distracting. I can't even begin to stay in a pub if it is rowdy and you good folk know how much I love a pub ..... I've never been one for clubs for the same reason ... however give me a rock concert and then the louder the better. I remember a good few years ago going to see the Pretenders and I managed to make my way backstage and position myself on ther right of one of the massive speakers ... well to say the music went right through me is an understatement but what a memorable night ..... also when I went to see U2 my word the noise but it all added to the thrill.

Thank you Idlecat I will check my mail ... had a dead busy day at the office ... you know those days when you don't even have time to think for yourself ......

What's happened to Butterly ..... I thought of her the other day as I was thinking of buying some Michael Jackson vinyl records. Wizzy it can't be long before you are off to see Madonna ..... you must tell us what she was like

They are quite a popular combination over here now. The Scottie seems to be making a bit of a comeback.
Reminds me of the picture on the Black and White Whisky bottle.

Had to call the farrier today as Bluebells hooves were looking horrendous as they have grown so fast. Turns out that the hoof supplement I have been giving her to strengthen her hooves has also been making them grow, so no more of that then! Anyway, it is the first time I have seen him without his Robbie dog. He liked Nelson and tells me has bought another JRT although he is only a week old yet and he is going to call him Harvey.

My son has two new kittens. They are ginger and white brothers and are almost identical except for a ginger spot on one of their backs. They are very cute and luckily their other cat Charlie seems to approve of them.

My sister just got a new kitten--a ginger/white one she named Stewie. He is so cute and so interested in everything around him. Had fun playing with him yesterday.

Aww, I'm glad your farrier got a new pup! I love the name he gave him!

I always fancied living on a barge. I`m sure Bluebell would oblige with the towing and Nelson could be coxswain as he is a seadog.

Thankyou all for your birthday wishes. I am having a busy day working but as you say the sun is shining which makes such a difference.
As it is also my friends birthday at the stables, the owner put out some balloons and a happy birthday message on the gate to us. Also, Blue is coming home from hospital today, so what could be better.

Off out for a meal tonight, so catch you all later.

Aw, that was so nice of the stable owner to put out the sign and balloons! So glad Blue will be coming home now--sure hope he is all better now!

Enjoy your birthday meal!

Happy birthday Cassum ..... I do hope you are having a great time ... my Mother used to have two ginger cats - unfortunately one collided with a car and went to cat heaven ... the elder one Jake died a few years ago .. she was devastated .... what has your brother called the little kitties. You are lucky today ... for once the sun is shining and looks like we may escape the rain .....

I've just had a text from home saying that the boiler is leaking .... oh my .. I hate it when that happens .. I seem to spend my life sorting this wretched thing out ..the cleaner hopefull has put some towels down ... in this kind of job I can't just up sticks and go home so am keeping my fingers crossed that a tusnami hasn't occurred. Mother coming round tomorrow to wait in for the British Gas .... I had to beg and beg for someone to come tomorrow ... they offered me Friday (and I pay a hefty sum every month for this insurance) .. will be very upset if I am wading around with my goggles and flippers on this evening during the England match ....

You have a lovely dinner this evening Cassum and a few glasses of vino ... all the best to you xxxx

It does sound nice to live on a barge .... however, with the amount of clutter I have I think the barge would be at the bottom of the canal .....

That's awful about your boiler, Spud! I hope it's just a slow drip and not a stream coming out of it! With the insurance you're paying BG should be out there pronto and not making you wait. It's good your mother can be there to let them in tomorrow.

You have a wonderful time, please let us know how Blue is.

How did the ponies like the balloons?

Talking of yard owners, I've now found out that my detector IS up my old yard but is locked in a shed and the owner is away until next week but at least they think it is safe, - well something black and yellow is lurking in a corner and hopefully the cute little folding spade is with it. I bet it's filthy.

Idlecat, you would have been proud of me--I had two boxes of miscellaneous Star Wars stuff I wanted to get rid of that had been sitting in my bedroom for ages. It wasn't worth enough to sell on eBay so when the plumber came last week I was able to give them to him. He's a young guy with a little boy and we had been chatting about Star Wars the last time he came. He was thrilled with the stuff and I was thrilled to get rid of it! Thought of you as the boxes left the house...

Just too funny today.............went to our shopping centre with Mum and then went to a local pub that had a special meal deal of 2 meals and a bottle of wine for a very reasonable price indeed. Trouble is some days I just cant eat or drink and today was one of them so Mum must have had 7/8 of the bottle of wine and for the first time EVER I saw her well tiddly! Oh the rubbish she was spouting! Two large coffees later she was still not much better! Bless her!
