TV all mended now as nice young Virgin man came and replaced the box. The fact that it was brand new in March is another matter.
We went out to lunch with my cousin and then back to hers for a cup of tea.
Hoping to go to Bath tomorrow on the park and ride.

Lol! Glad all sorted now.

Had a smashing lunch with Spud and IC. Spud works in the most gorgeous place in London and very posh too! Her office block overlooks the most beautiful green park with lots of benches so ideal for a packed lunch break on a pleasant day. We went to a great little pub and had the best time. Thanks girls!

Oh I could so get used to being permanently on annual leave and am not looking forward to going back on Monday - and I'm on nights just to make it even worse!

Morning ladies ... can't tell you how lovely it was to see the girls yesterday .. yes it is a bit posh round her .... I quite like it as it is only 30 mins to work by tube and I am near all the shops .... however, dreading the Olympics so much ... it is going to be torture.

Yes Chrissie we are coming "up North" ... do so hope you can join us .... Jeannette are you free third weekend in September.

LR you will enjoy Bath ..... lovely City. Patti took us to places off the beaten track which was well received as although I love to do the touristy things I am always keen to get away from the throngs.

Tipping it down with rain here today but the weather forecast is for a sunny few days beginning tomorrow. Phew that means I can leave my windows open to air my "damp" patch. Need to get back on the phone to the insurance company as want to speed the process up .......

Lots of love to you all .... xxxx

Was thinking of you all yesterday. Glad you had a great lunch. Yeah, don't you wish we could all be retired and doing whatever we want whenever we want?

Ooh, sorry to hear your back on nights, RE. That sucks.

The last time I was in Bath was 1989 so it will all be new to me again. About the only thing I remember was the Roman Baths tourist spot. Looking forward to visiting the Jane Austen museum this time. I want to get a Mr. Darcy tea cup for my cousin.

We have sun here today, but clouds still lurking about. Hope you get your dry weather soon, Spud, so you can dry out your room!

Wow, Spud's place of work is in a very very posh place, Berkley Square, alas there were no nightingales singing, I'm sure there were last time I visited. We liked the seats of remembrance in the park, a lovely touch of nostalgia to remember folk from long ago who loved the area.
We really did have a fab time, it was not without incident however - but that's another story.
Being packed like sardines in the tube was an experience I thought would not happen again - but it was quite fun. People are very much more friendly and polite than I remember, we were offered seats by young men on several occasions.

I dragged Rainbow to what was once my HO and favourite very posh coffee shop and Austrian Patisserie opposite Harrods. It looked very run down and was now a Muslim type every day eaterie,
The Pub where Spud treated us to a fabulous lunch of Tai delicacies was a very upmarket traditional London Pub and we will certainly be revisiting it. Top marks, not a scrap did we leave, even Rainbow's leftovers were devoured greedily by 2 persons who we will not name.

Tis another glorious day here in S Essex, last night after returning I managed to soak up the rays for an hour or so before eating our omelets under the canopy.
This morning I am busy with eBay but did watch a film with Brenda Blethyn called "London River" earlier, a story based of the London bombings July 2005 on the underground and the bus. Did not see a no 365 though.

Now really warm outside, must get the parcels finished and then plan to get out into the garden.
Where were we last week? Was it Bath?

Yes - a week ago we were in Bath and what a good day it was too! It has long been a dream of mine to go there and thanks to IC it came true and I got to see the Pump Room which I have been fascinated with since reading Northanger Abbey many moons ago.

IC what is it with your weather always being so different to mine even though we can only be 12-15 miles apart? It tipped it down last night and is now very gloomy with heavy showers forecasted. Mind you from the weekend fine weather is due which is great as my 2 wks a/leave draws to a close! Still lots of sun and open windows will really help your damp dry out Spud.

Have been doing a Tenko rewatch and so far have seen the first 8 episodes. Havent seen it since it the 80's and its worn well. Though how Sister Ulrika and the other Nuns kept their robes so pristine white in such a location is another matter!

CM and LR hope you have the best day - mind you you cannot fail to in such a wonderful city. Have enjoyed both your photos on FB - very much fun to look at and brings back all the memories.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Just a week ago we were in Bath ... well to coin a Cher song "if i could turn back time" ... I would defo turn back to last week ... what an amazing day we had ..... I wish I had a video of it all as it was a true delight ... and the car incident ... well hats off to Idlecat for not panicking .... even RE and I were ooohing and aahing like two frightened kiddies. I did enjoy the "nipping to Tescos" which was a 5 min drive but with us turned out to be a three and half hour marathon. Also loved it that every time we got to the top of the road all three of us said which way ..... and that was after about the fifth time ... good job we aren't driving any of the athletes to the Olympic village as instead of Stratford London we would possibly do a detour to Stratford on Avon.

LR / Cassum let us know how you get on in Bath

xx

Should be heading to Bath soon--Cassmum had some chores to take care of this morning so she should be back soon. Right now I am watching a live newsfeed of a horrific shooting that occurred five hours ago in a movie theatre in Aurora, Colorado. Some nutcase came into the midnight premiere of the new Batman movie, set off tear gas and then proceeded to start a shooting rampage. 14 dead and over 50 injured. What a world....

Thanks, RE--I keep looking over my photos and can't believe my trip is almost over. Had such a wonderful time and can't believe how much we managed to do and see in such a short time! Having a lovely time with Cassmum and will very much miss it here.

Am full of admiration to IC for not panicking - I am not ashamed to admit I was terrified. I was convinced the car would just roll over and tumble down either the abyss on the side of the hill or down the actual hill itself.

However lighter moments such as you mention the Tesco 'round the corner' - what a big long corner it turned out to be! And our total lack of navigation skills gave us so many laughs. Thought it funny that even after several trips out we still had to go with the majority decison as to which way we went as none of us were totally sure! Yet Schnuki knew the place like the back of her hand!

Some very very sick people in this world. To just set out for an innocent trip to the cinema and then to be killed just like that or wounded..................Yet it happens time and again. All have been so tragic but the worst I think was Dunblane in 1996. To deliberately target babies of 5 or 6 and a Scoutmaster at that. 16 children killed and all but one of the 29 in the class injured. I have never hugged my children so tightly as I did that night as I am sure every parent did too.

Well off to my local Essex town centre now - something of a contrast to this time last week when I was in the beautiful city of Bath.

Had a wonderful day with Cassmum and Nelson touring Fringford, Cottisford and Juniper Hill. We saw everything I hoped to see--the original Post Office, the grave of Kezia Whitton (Dorcas Lane), the squire's manor, Cottisford Church, End House and Queenie's house. My Lark Rise tour is now complete! But I'm very sad to be going home in the morning. Just finishing packing now. Thank you, ladies, for spending time with me--it has been sooooo special and memorable! Will miss you all! xxxxx

It's not so cool now, yesterday was much too hot for me and alas, I crept under the awning to find shade - this morning I am back to my watering routine. Will do it now before it warms up.

Good morning everyone.... LarkRiser glad that you made it home safely .... often when I get back from a trip I have to pinch myself that I was actually there .... so its always good to have lots of pics and souvenirs to remind you of happy times.

I had an eventful day yesterday .... I thought I was so good when I managed to add new memory to my lap top ... now as you ladies know my laptop is my pride and joy ... well after I switched it on I noticed how slow it was so got the book out and silly girl that I am had put the memory in the wrong slot so out came the screwdriver ... except I got a little carried away and managed to mangle to screw ... eeek ... took it to one shop and there was lots of air sucking and oh no we can't do that ... you'll have to break the cover off .... found another shop at about 7.30pm last night and the guy managed in 5 seconds with a very cute tool to get the back off swap the memory over and put a new screw in it ... cost me £20 but I was so glad that I didn't have to lug it back to John Lewis at lunchtime ... next time I will be more careful.

Sun blazing today ..... how lovely to see Bradley Wiggins win the Tour de France ...some of my family who live in Paris were cheering for him big time. he comes across as such a nice guy ....

RE are you back on nights .... I do hope work goes ok for you.

I am still missing you all .

Glad to hear you got home safely LR. Its not cool here now! We have a heatwave of 30C for the next few days. Too much. I wish we could just have bright sunny days with temps of 22c - that would suit me just fine.

Sooooo frustrating when you try to do something and it doesnt work out but glad you found a good guy in the end to sort it.

A fine achievement by Bradley Wiggins! A great start to the Olympics!

Mum had a great time in France although a bit disappointed in the country itself. During the fortnight various family members went for a few days at a time so she had a good old catch up. My brother is thinking of doing the same sort of holiday next year but in Italy. Trouble is she depises pasta with a passion and cant eat tomatoes as it makes her hips flare up so its putting her off somewhat. Do any of you know if it is possible to get good old fashioned English meals there and are they widely available? Thanks!

Got to try and sort out my house phone - wondered why I didnt get expected calls yesterday and then last night I picked it up to check the line only to discover several ansafone messages. I realised that somehow or other I've turned the ringing sound off and despite going through the booklet 3 times cant see how to get it back on again! Soooo annoying!

Yes back to work tonight - am dreading putting the awful uniform on but guess that within an hour it will be like I have never been away. To think that 2wks ago today IC were on our way to our hols - oh to turn back time!

Have a good week everyone!

JB is everjoyed that a long streak of sinew and muscle not unlike himself could have achieved such a momentous victory and has spent a good 10 mins recalling tales of cycling too and from school in Conway 60 years ago and how strong the headwind was. He was also a good fast bowler.

In my experience of travelling in Italy ( mainly ski trips) no there is little English food available, they do wonderful salads though, I can't even imagine what life would be like without pasta.

Do you just have 1 phone or is it a network?

Exactly, Spud! I get back to familiar surroundings and wonder if I dreamed the whole thing.
Ooooh, feeling a bit jet-lagged today! Just dragged myself out of bed feeling strange because to my body it's nearly 5pm.

eeek ... took it to one shop and there was lots of air sucking and oh no we can't do that ... you'll have to break the cover off .... found another shop at about 7.30pm last night and the guy managed in 5 seconds with a very cute tool to get the back off swap the memory over and put a new screw in it ... cost me £20 but I was so glad that I didn't have to lug it back to John Lewis at lunchtime ... next time I will be more careful.
Isn't it amazing how incompetent most of these "repair" guys are? Thank goodness you found one who actually knows what he's doing!
