Well judging by the fact that all the media are talking mre about Rachael's old than anything else, I suspect you might be right. The thing with Rachael though is she is certainly marketable, probably more so than Darren and even Karise, plus the Australian radio market unlike the UK market has no qualms playing music from reality show winners (mainly because if they didn't there would be very few acts to play - many singers are ex-idol contestants). So the success of the artist is much more likely than in the UK

Oh wow. Just finished watching both parts of the finale. 21/2 hours of some stunning talent. This has been a real vindication of the actual show for me. I've loved nearly every part. And while Karise has been my favourite since the get go, I hoped she would come storming back in the final after murdering Hallelujah last week. She did, and how. Her self penned song was mesmorising while her performance of "Stay With Me Baby" sent chills down me. Well done Australia, I dreaded Rachael winning on the sympathy vote, but they got it so right IMO.I really think Rachel was the weakest on the night, but I'm still mystified at the support that Darren's got. I just don't see it. Still music is so subjective you cant arbitrate other people's taste and what a boring place it'd be if we all liked the same genres. If it can work in Australia, it ought to work over here. Apart from one of two things it was the same formula, without our awful judging/coaches, bickering, over praise and desperate attempts to make as if they were all best friends. I genuinely felt the Aussie ones were, they were so much more natural and laid back. (I had no idea Joel Madden was Lionel Richies'son-in-law. You learn something new every day!).Great season, roll on S2. It may be the only version I watch. Memo to the Beeb, you dont need two hosts, if you've got the right man/woman then i'ts heaps smoother and flows much better. Karise is the only person in the 4 series I've watched that I would consider buying her album. What a wonderful soul voice she's got. A worthy winner.

Well deserved winner. The only think that confuses me is about her winner song. Is it just a random song that she has never performed before? "You won't let me" is ****ing horrible! Her original song should have been her winner's single.
Delta's performance of the prayer was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! |

![]() If you mean that Karise's own song ( and well done Australia for giving them the chance to perform an original) should have been her first single I totally agree with you there too. It knocked spots off the song that is going to be released. It was part of her life and while I have no idea of her earlier life( so much for it being "sob story" oriented,) the lyrics moved me.I thought both Rachael's and Darren's ones' were crap. I really liked Sarah before the final, but IMO she just didn't nail it on Sunday and Monday in the same way as Karise. Two things that Australia's show proved to me a) it doesn't matter a stuff that the result isn't on the same night (I dont care that it's pre recorded either) Waiting a week, or a day for the finale show, didn't detract one bit and b) I wonder if it would make any difference if our version was allowed to make stuff available on iTunes? 4 out of the top 5 d/l in Aus are Karise ( and No 1 is not her new single...so got that one wrong, producers). I keep trying to think how the UK got it so wrong compared with this, and still cant nail the reasons. |

Despite the devil's own ads, The Voice needs to be on a commercial channel; the BBC are too restriced and unable to make use of the best avenues to make the show a success - iTunes or similar is a must nowadays.
The AUS version has been my favourite by far. I loved how much background/studio time we were shown, it was so insightful, and the coaches appear genuinally impassioned. Seal grew on me again (still too touchy, though) and I am totally in love with Keith. By comparison most of our judges seem barely interested (but that could be bad editing). And I know someone knocked Darren earlier in the thread, but I really warmed to him and his relationship with the contestants felt real and not a bit patronising. Well done Australia. |

I liked everything about the show, except Joel. When it started I thought Delta has no clue about coaching but later she came across very well. Seal we all know how good he is, same as Keith.
Anyone noticed Seal was running on to stage with Joel on his back? ![]() Quote:

I finally got round to watching the first half of the finale and I have to say it was such a nice touch of having their own original songs. Other countries take note of that.
