Well, Darren, the latest information that I am aware of is that Youview is currently being trial tested in viewers' homes which means that it's at a relatively advanced stage of development and l've provided a link below.

However, reading between the lines of that article, it seems like an autumn launch is the earliest practical time. Indeed, l'd rather that they get things right and iron out as many bugs as possible before launching.

My best guess is that they'd certainly want Youview-compatible equipment in the shops ready in time for the Christmas buying spree. I'd very much welcome Youview because it has the potential to offer extra viewing choice to Freeview and Freesat households.

I have been tempted to get BTVisions basic package but it dont come with Freeview HD. Thats why I have held off getting BTVision. I look forward to seeing what YouView has to offer and prices before I get it. Im not looking to get any sport as although I do watch sport I dont watch enough sport to be paying for it.

It's different, YouView has made some small changes. the new details were only published on 16/04/2012, one day after the original post so it can't be the same if it hadn't been published then.

That's interesting news, d'@ve, and thanks for posting it. I would be surprised if Youview was up and running by the time of the Olympics but at least viewers could access the extra online channels via PCs and internet-enabled TVs.

It may launch by then but it won't have much market penetration apart from the fanatic early adopters willing to risk meddling with their set up just as the Olympics kick off.

That is the problem and I still think they left it too late, the majority of people who want Freeview HD will either have a TV with it built in or already gone for a HD Freeview+ box.

A lot of people who want HD are either going for Freesat or Sky.
Maybe in a few years You View may get going, but I think it will take a lot of loses until then, apart from BT and Talk Talk giving the boxes away to their customers and i bet they will be locked to make sure they don't work on other networks.

Blooming heck, I agree with you Noise, in hindsight I think they will miss the boat on this one, it may well be launched prior to the games but the service won't be taken up as much as it could have been; not to say of course that it won't in the future.

It was suppose to come out in June 2012 it now looks like it will be out in June 2013, no surprises there then

The article from Marketing Magazine is not talking about June 2013 as a launch date. However, there are three parts to YouView so some may only launch then:
* YouView Smart TVs - no launch info known
* YouView Freeview receivers - no lauch info known
* YouView Freeview receiver-recorders - trialling at the moment, YouView Twitter (17/04) says trials to be widened soon but does not advise if pre-Olympics launch deadline is on target or will be missed so suspect the latter, Marketing Magazine indicates Autmn 2012.

You are wrong, I read on the Internet that they are NOT MAKING ANY YOUVIEW TVs, I cannot remember where I read it though, just STBs/Recorders,
