Hey all,

Just switched on CNN and noticed that it has finally gone widescreen about time to.

Are you sure? Just watching CNN NewsCenter and it is clearly just "stretchyvision" - 4:3 picture stretched to fit 16:9 frame.

Will check again later to see if other shows are proper widescreen.

I have not noticed any difference in aspect ratio. When a widescreen programme is sourced from the 'big' CNN channel in the US they sort of squeeze it into a 4:3 frame then stretch it again, very strange.

Widescreen is long overdue though!

All US content is widescreen i.e. Piers Morgan, but in UK it's squished into a 4:3 frame, could be your TV is stretching or zooming it automatically.

Seriously?! I wouldn't even watch him in 4:3, never mind widescreen! And I really don't ever want to see him in HD I think I'd put my foot through the TV.

Some programming is letterboxed - but there is no widescreen

Nothing worse than fake-widescreen (letterboxed) 4:3 content.

I paid for a massive TV and I have to watch this tiny picture stuck in the middle of an acre of blackness?

The only thing nearly as bad is Channel 5's treatment of 4:3 content: slap a massive bright DOG nealy in the middle of the screen.

Both cases make me switch over to something else.
