I admire Nigel Pivaro for the work he has done and the education that he has achieved since he left CS a few years ago.

Former Coronation Street star Nigel Pivaro, who played Terry Duckworth, has been awarded a Masters Degree by the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.

Mr Pivaro, 44, graduated with an MSc in Social Science and Economics, specialising in Terrorism and International Relations.

"It has been a life changing experience going to university," he said.

Before going on to do his masters he got a 2:1 BA with Hons in Contemporary Military and International History from The University of Salford.

That is very, very, very sad.

I just hope that he reads this so that he knows how much we appreciate him.

Pivaro, who played Jack's son Terry for periods between 1983 and 2012, has since praised Tarmey as a man who "cared deeply" for his loved ones and was able to "lighten up" their world.

"I am devastated to learn of the passing of someone who became a huge part of both my professional and personal life, who I came to look on as a second father," he said.

"He was a very wise and dignified man who taught me a great deal and whose counsel I came to value greatly.

"He was a lovely man who cared deeply for his family and friends. We are all rightly bereft at the loss we will feel knowing that the world will be a little poorer without Bill to lighten it up with his warm humour."
