Was it me, or were most of them rubbish tonight?

I though I hate to admit it, as I don't like Mr Cowell much, but his two acts were the only two that shone for me tonight, Steve being best. Cassie I'd put third, she started a bit iffly but ended strongly.

Tabby looked awkward, especially at the start. 2 to go were poor, voices with soul wandered out of tune, G4 sang well, but it still verged on the comical.

I agree, it was definitely Steve and Rowettas show tonight.

He was spot on re 2 to go. They could probably make a nice living playing bars in the canaries.

Do you think it's a bit of a coincidence? Simons show, Simon gets the best acts? Or is it just an age group thing? Maybe the teens think that Sharon has the best acts with the two youngsters.

Louis decisions with 2 to go didnt help though. Song choice wasn't great and I thought getting him to play Sax half way through just looked awkward and naff, even if he can play it pretty well. I think him suck behind that synth doesnt help either, it just looks too "blackpool". If they survive this week, he should be sticking him behind a grand piano (ok, not that easy to wheel in the current studio setup), or else just have him standing up. Yes, we know he can play instruments, but does it look good with him stuck behind a crappy looking synth?

I agree with you completely.

I felt that Rowetta and Steve not only sang well,..they also gave something extra to their performances. Not too OTT, just subtle and professional enough to look like the real deal.

Others can sing, but they don't perform well at all.

And if it's about X Factor, I think the actual performances have to have some sort of charisma to them.

And I admit, that Cassie should be in the top three too.
I thought she was a bit shaky in parts, but again, she knew how to give a good overall performance.

I thought Tabby was crap.
For the image he has, and for who he needs to appeal to, he looked too choreographed, pre-rehearsed, and mechanical evertime he did anything.
For his rock image, he has to look more authentic than that. Not like he's directing air traffic.
And this pretend guitar playing just looks completely farcical.

G4 were just about passable. To be fair they had a stupid song choice. But to give them credit, they didn't smile their way through the song. So that's a plus in that respect. Only strange thing about that, is that they sang previous songs in a cheery way when it wasn't approriate, but with the Britney song it was a song that they could ahve got away with being all jolly and smiley with.
They do have ability and potential for me, but at the moment they just aren't cutting it yet.

I gave Tabby chances. Not now.
G4 still have a chance with me. But only if they do a good song. I wouldn't want to see them win just due to a fanatic fanbase. I would want them to do well on genuine merit. If they get it right one week, I believe they can be amazing.....but they haven't provided any sort of "magic" for me yet. Maybe they never will and remain just a comedy distraction.

Tabby is incredibly overated though. I couldn't care less if he went.
Nice guy though,..but just not anywhere near good enough.
He looks like an actor auditioning for Spinal Tap 2.

I agree.
I know what Simon was getting at.
It just looked a bit desperate. Like someone showing off saying "Look at all these things I can do"

You could almost imagine him with a mouth organ round his neck, and a big bass drum on his back that he could operate with his foot.

I think if he just stuck with the sax, and ditched the keyboard, or even ditched the sax and was sat at a piano. It would have come across a lot better.

Louis keeps accusing Simon of not knowing what he's doing. But from what I'm seeing Louis looks like he knows even less.
Louis looks like he knows about boyband stuff, but that's it. It isn't as though he manages groundbreaking talent.
His expertise seems very limited, and he doesn't look to be much of an expert about anything beyond boyband stuff. Not very versatile at all.

Wheras Simon seems to know how to manage people better, and can get the best out of them whatever they're good at.

Steve outshone everyone else by a long way tonight. Tabby was quite good, but the rest were distinctly average!

There was SOOOOOOOOOOO much talent up there, but I agree they were mostly rubbish tonight. I really enjoyed Steve's performance, the only one that really shone for me. Rowetta didn't pull off her song as well as she had in the auditions IMHO.

Cassie has a beautiful voice, but I really didn't think you could tell that from tonight's performance. I felt so sorry for her. Tabby's style of music is not really my thing I admit but he has a certain presence. Sadly I think that he may win then sink without trace (sadly 'cause I don't think any of them deserve that).

As for Louis' acts, well..................
I thought VWS were fantastic first week, but have not matched since; I think that the bloke on 2 to Go has a good voice, but the act as a whole makes me cringe; and G4 ..............................

I really love classical miusic, and I think that are a very taletnted group, but the song choices make them look like a joke.

Louis makes my skin crawl these days............

Well that's my fivepenn'th anyway

I just don't get it with Steve. He's in tune but there isn't any charisma or emotion for me. Strange. I was amazed that he was considered to be in the top 3 of the over 25s (but not as amazed as I was by the survival of the vocally challenged Verity). On tonight's show Rowetta was the only one to shine but can she do anything other than belt out a song? Still, she belts them well.

2 to Go were horrendous and this will sound harsh but if Peter was not blind they would not be there.

Voices with Soul have great singers but they are exactly the same as other good gospel singers up and down the country and they don't have the personal charisma to stand out.

Cassie was out of tune and clearly out of her depth. And why all the fuss about "dancing" - she was just walking about a bit.

Tabby was OK but I agree with other posters who suggest it is all a little staged.

G4 were not as funny as I hoped they'd be - too much emphasis on the bass voices for the verses as the tenor is the one with the real ability and the others should largely stick to harmonies if they are going to carry on covering pathetic pop songs as the little blonde guy is the only one with the pretty boy presence to be a front man. Britney Spears songs should just NOT be sung by a deep bass voice.

I hope 2 to Go leave tonight, they are truly terrible - I was surprised that nobody picked up on the fact that Emma sang most of her part completely out of tune.

Vile.

I haven't liked Steve at all so far... but tonight, he was the only one who didn't hit a bum note.
VWS were awful.. and what's with the three yards of glitter under each eye? Sorry, I'm drifting off topic already.
Cassie - oh dear. Poor love.
Rowetta - bleurgh.
2 to Go - Peter's and Lee reincarnated.. she is bland and without much talent (not to mention style). He has a great voice, should've been on his own.
Tabby - about to become a caricature of himself. The guitar thing makes me cringe now, original and unique once, but now makes me feel as though I'm wathing a little boy with a new birthday prezzy.
G4 - I guffawed so loudly, I drowned out next doors (not insignificant) bonfire party. What on EARTH was going on? Did the bloke with the low voice start off in the wrong key or something? He was too low to even sing the end of some lines. Poor, poor, ridiculous.
Judges - Sharon starting to (like Tabs) become a cartoon of herself. (Does she read everything off an autocue? If not, she's developing a really odd twitch and squint)
Louis - Words fail me. Patronising pooper.
Simon - Didnt used to like him, he's the only one that actually spoke sense the whole night.

I'm surprised so many people seem to think Tabby performed well. To me he seemed nervous and self conscience (especially at the start), tried too hard and bopped around too much and generally did an unconvincing impression of a rockstar. I thought he was alot better last week.

Welcome to the forum Don't know why you are tiptoeing about, every thing you said made absolute sense to me. Wierdest thing of all about this programme is that Simon Cowell is the nice guy

thanks for the welcome I don't know about everything I say making sense - my typos were dreadful. Ah well.

Simon Cowell seems to be becoming a decent bloke - anyone notice that Louis got more boos than Simon on entering tonight? (Quite rightly)

Don't worry about your typos,...you delivered your message most efectively.
Welcome from me too.

Quite admire your debut post by fearlessly destroying every single one of them at the same time.

She was totally out of her depth tonight.

Heres a tip for anyone thinking of covering an Aretha song, dont bother. No one will ever sing that song anywhere near as well as Aretha, not even close.

Btw, bit odd after Sharons 'why are you singing soul, you're not black' comment last week to give Cassie a soul classic this week

Maybe it's because she's 'just 17' (Sharon's words, not mine!)? Hoping for the sympathy vote IMO. Cassie, Tabby and Sharon get right up my nose to be honest, maybe its my age.......
