Anyone care to offer anything? I though she did nothing to contribute to the video in any way whatsoever and seemed to have got through on merit.

Because he doesn't want to get rid of another woman.

Because Duane's business idea was rubbish and Laura's must be interesting

As was pointed out in the final boardroom Ricky brought in the two who actually contributed most - perhaps the question should be why did the rest of the team get away?

Based on tonights task she shouldn't have been even called back into the board room. In my opinion Jenna should have been brought back in. I think Ricky just called her in because she was so close to going last week.

Ricky should have brought Duane / Nick or Duane / Gabrielle or Duane / Jenna. Laura is incompetent but she did work hard on this task.

I do think Laura will be the shock person who gets to neat the end. Like Natasha last year, there are still too many shirkers

Donīt think that it would be a shock if Laura got far, as Lord Sugar clearly likes her.

She got a "free ride" because she put herself forward to help in devising the routine, because the moves that were apparently taken out of the video were taken out by Duane not her, because she did everything she said she'd do and did it competently and was clearly trying to have as positive an input into the proceedings as she was being allowed.

She didn't do anything wrong in this task and Duane was decent and fair enough to know it, and to give no blame where it wasn't due.

The above is the correct answer.

However, if we were basing it on the tasks only, Laura didn't deserve to be fired.

She did everything that was asked of her, and even argued with Duane over the direction of the video shoot, but was shot down.

Duane knew she had done everything asked of her and was decent enough to acknowledge this in the boardroom, and said she shouldn't be in there.

I'm not quite sure why you've singled Laura out, OP. If anyone was getting a "free ride", it certainly isn't her. Jenna, Nick and Gabrielle were very quiet on this task. Nick tried to give his opinion on the video shoot, like Laura, but was shot down, but apart from that, I'm not entirely sure what else he did. Gabrielle was pretty much edited out the episode and Jenna seems to have come up with the moves - alongside Laura.

So just why have you singled Laura out? Genuinely curious, because your opinion of "I though she did nothing to contribute to the video in any way whatsoever" could be said about everyone else.

I don't understand the dislike for Laura here, especially after tonight's task. She got a free ride in the boardroom because her performance on the task was faultless.

Sorry OP, although she should have gone after last weeks show, Laura ahouldnt have even been called back to the boardroom let alone fired.

Of the 3 Rick should have gone for his overall strategy.

I'm with the people saying she was probably the best of that team.

Ricky should have gone, Duane... up until now he's impressed me, today he was a bit of a *ahem* but to be fired for today? Bit of a joke.

Ricky should have brought two of the missing people into the boardroom before Sugar sends out a search party to find what they've done.

Ricky had no choice to bring Duane into the final 3, as the video was being held up as one of the reasons for the failure of the task, but bringing in Laura was his big mistake, albeit one which Duane got punished for. Ricky was so caught up in his "knees and elbows" stuff, and the idea that his wonderful routine hadn't been demonstrated properly by Laura, that he was blind to the shortcomings of the rest of the team, any of whom might well have been fired in Duane's place if they'd been brought in...

Why did Laura get a free ride?

Don't you mean Jenna?

Exactly. And it is going to get quite boring this year if every single time someone is not fired people queue up to sneer that it must be because LS preferred their business plan.

how exactly did she get a free ride?

she worked hard on this task and was limited by Duane making all the decisions regarding the video, Ricky brought the wrong people in should have been Gabrielle and Jenna who both contributed nothing to the task

She sounds like a hamster thats been sat on.

and for that reason Laura "you should be fired"

I dont agree that Ricky bought in the two that contributed the most, he brought in the two that he felt contributed most towards the failure of the task, which is what he was supposed to do.

Duane going was correct, his video was piss poor and Ricky was right to be spared, he gave great pitches and speaks up for himself very well. Duane and Laura meanwhile bickered like children.

Right decision.

But in previous years when Project Managers do this, they end up being fired by default. If someone of Duayne's calibre goes just like this it makes a mockery of the whole show.

Thats bollox. I have a wide range of business portfolios in stocks and shares. I made no business plan and just did a few sums in companies that were huge liabilities, yet there seems to be no shortage of muppets who come along and rescue them. Business plan my arse.

True, and Ricky came very close to going. But in this case Duayne had been put in complete charge of the video and despite contributing heavily to that it was the sole reason for the failure.

Ricky should have brought back Duayne and Gabriella. That way both Ricky and Duayne could have progressed.

People forget this isn't a public voting show, so there's no pressure on Sugar to make correct or consistent decisions. He writes the rules, he can fire who he chooses. It doesn't make a mockery of the show to not follow previous precedents. I agree it's a great shame Duayne was fired, but both Ricky and Laura are also better than many who have not yet been in the firing line. Someone good was bound to be going.
