For a similar price you can get a 1GB RAM, 8GB storage - 7" 1024x600 tablet called an Ainol Elf which would be better than this unless the 10" screen is a must have. And it comes with Android 4

7" is a portable gadget for occasional use, 10" becomes a computer of sorts.

They are vastly different

For some reason I thought this has a resistive screen…I see now that’s it’s not – a good purchase then – although can it run Android 4?

Hmm, I've got to say, I bought one of these and really couldn't take to it. I understand it's a quarter of the price of an iPad, but honestly, I'd tell anyone to try and save up the money for an iPad.

What did you not like about it? I've used both a cheap Tablet which I have now and an iPad but can't see where all the extra money goes on the iPad...and I'm not someone who hates Apple products as I have an iPhone!

The screen is capacitive and though not as sensitive as the transformer or iPad2 its still very good.

You can see where they have saved money in that the viewing angle is not great (you need to be pretty much looking head on though somebody standing next to you will be OK) and colours are not quite as bright, again very watchable but if you had this side by side to a transformer you would notice the difference.

And though not official there is a ICS ROM available that works pretty well. I have had a look at it on mine but I prefer honeycomb image.

I can understand where ipad is better but I would say this is 80% of the way there at 1/4 of the cost. I would say you need to have a reason to spend the extra dosh. If you can afford it, then fine.

I've been using a vega. Picked up a used one on ebay in great condition and it came with a charging dock/stand too!! All for £125. I flashed Vega ICS beta 1 rom which is the latest ice cream sandwich rom. It's very very good. Less buggy than honeyICE and vegacomb. The only real gripe so far is the wifi cuts out when the tablet goes to standby, but can overcome that by setting the tablet to sleep only after 30 mins of non use. Not really an issue anymore. But believe me installing the custom rom is VERY EASY. There is a great video up on how to do it.

Very easy to follow. Now you only have to use a piece of software which installs the rom for you.

Gaming performance seems to be very good too, Remember Tegra 2 GPU!! This is a very good performing tablet. Get ICS Browser plus and it's very smooth and does flash. Can't fault it, great tablet for the money.

iPad is better, but only in some ways.

It's way behind in quite a few too.

Too be fair the iPad should be better as it is 3 times more expensive - but I don't find the iPad 3 times better
