Youtube HD - very slow recently?
Ive held off asking this question because youtube rarely has capacity problems, google probably have hundreds of thousands of servers.
However, Youtube 720p and upwards has been awful for me for at least a month. By awful i mean constant buffering and sometimes failure to load without a refresh. 480p never a problem. I'm with o2 LLU and never have connection issues. For instance I've just tried to watch a 720p youtube vid, had buffering, immediately checked iPlayer HD and Netflix and also did a speedtest, none of the there services are indicating problems. So either o2 is throttling youtube or youtube are having capacity problems. p.s. i'm on a legacy unlimited o2 broadband contact > 3 years old and therefore shouldn't have any traffic shaping applied. |

You're right when you say YouTube rarely has capacity problems. Watching 1080p vid now and no buffering needed at all.
Have you run a speed test? |

I think it must be some of the less common videos are only distributed between a smaller number of servers.
I don't know how it all works but it seems i have no problems viewing 1080p trailers for example, they zip across. But 720p BF3 videos can sometimes cause me problems. //I ran a speediest and it's 10+ Mbit no problem. |

Admittedly some videos do tend to take time buffering but generally it's newer videos from smaller channels. Try updating your flash player to the latest version. If the above doesn't work I'd suggest giving O2 a call and maybe ask them to optimise your internet connection for streaming as YouTube is having poor performance. Not sure if that's even possible but worth a try. |
