I've found that. If there's an episode I desperately want to download, it takes about 6 hours. If I'm downloading it for downloading it's sake, it takes about 6 minutes.

It's the most annoying thing. iPlayer does it on purpose. When the ep is close to finishing downloading, the speed slows right down to about 200kb a minute. It's the most frustrating thing!

It was good to see Christian again tonight, looking hot and wearing the same leather jacket Johnny was wearing when some of us met him in Canterbury on 22/01 Wish he hadn't been on the tat stall though, but I suppose I should just be grateful we saw him at all The bench scene was sweet, he's so lovely and caring, even if he is rather cheap, buying unbranded chocolate just cos it was half price. What's wrong with a good old Twirl? Maybe he has to buy cheap chocolate cos the tat stall's doing really badly and he can't afford the good stuff, which hopefully means they'll sell it on to the Moons/burn it down for the insurance (sorry, who me?) :sleep:

I was a bit annoyed too about Roxy saying Christian would know all about falling for a married man. Syed wasn't married, or even engaged, when they fell for one another and they weren't together while Syed was married until about two days before Amira found out. I know they have to simplify things but it anoys me cos it just perpetuates the myth that Christian broke up Syed and Amira's perfect marriage blah blah

I saw we have spoilers (well, kind of), not expecting much but looking forward to seeing them together again and hopefully Pete will give us something

I'm starting to think no-one at EE knows or bothers to check this stuff - they just have a vague idea of what happened and go with it if it suits their 'plot' purposes. Or, more likely, they don't care about accuracy at all.

The writers always seem to simplify it to 'Christian fell in love with a married man'....taking away all the complexity of the story and like you say perpetuates the idea that Christian 'lured' Syed away and ruined the marriage They were in love before Syed and Amira were engaged the marriage was doomed before it began!

Exactly. Christian never tried it on with Syed as a married man - Syed came onto him three months into the marriage, and as soon as that happened Christian wanted them to come clean to Amira. The fact that the blame is so often put solely at Christian's door is so infuriating.

And something else - why is Christian called a cheater? He never cheated on anyone and a homewrecker? Syed and Amira's marriage was, like you say, doomed from the start - if Christian hadn't pulled down that wallpaper, the marriage would have disintegrated eventually - Syed just couldn't go on like that, bludgeoning himself; and Amira would have been extremely unhappy, and eventually would have also felt trapped in the marriage. I don't understand why people don't get this. Syed and Amira weren't happy, they were bloody miserable. The truth had to come out one way or another, and it was always going to be painful for Amira.

Hi elphie The irony of it all is that Syed would never have proposed to Amira if he hadn't started to have feelings for Christian, a fact that seems to sail right over the heads of the Christian haters One of the things that annoyed me most about Amira's return (and it's a bloody long list) was when she said that Chryed's relationship was built on a lie. In this homewrecker metaphor, Christian pretty much came across an already-wrecked house and then set fire to the debris. The house was already ruined, it would never have recovered, and rebuilding it would be expensive and pointless, because it would just have fallen down all over again. Christian spared them the effort and pain of pointlessly rebuilding, when there was nothing to save. Christian's more of a... debris-wrecker, if we're going to get technical about it.

Great post jenn! Sone people like to view the story as, 'oh Christian's a bad man, a cheater who came onto a married man and he broke up the marriage' when actually the truth, like you describe, is soooo different. EE themselves are guilty of perpetuating these wrong ideas, by lines like tonights and the fact that is the very idea of what happened that Amira had and she sprouted that nonsense again and again but they never had her actually find out the truth of the situation! So frustrating!

I wonder if this is a bit of re-writing history here. Syed didn't "come onto" Christian three months into his marriage anymore than Christian "came onto" Syed in the First Kiss scene.

If I remember correctly, Syed turned up at Christian's flat to thank him for what he did for Amira. They had an argument, they both fought each other, they both kissed each other at the same time. No one "came onto" the other.

While it is true that Christian gets flak over the whole affair debacle, but Syed gets his fair share too in the MF.

ETA: Maybe you have different explanation that I'm perhaps not getting/understanding.

Syed kisses Christian in the sofa kiss scene. I mean, it's open to interpretation, as with all things, but I've always seen it as Syed initiating the kiss, which I think is what jenn is saying. Obviously they kiss each other, but Syed's the one who moves up to kiss him first. Obviously feel free to disagree!

And Syed really doesn't get that much flak on the main forum these days from what I can see. He used to get absolutely tons, I remember, but Christian really bears the weight of it now, for whatever reason.

I don't want to get into an argument about who kissed who first (although the way I see it, Syed does reach up to put his hand on the back of Christian's neck to pull him down for the kiss) but I have to disagree with BIB. Christian gets way more flak on the MF than Syed does. Ok, it's always the same three or four people, but still... One person in particular even admitted that she doesn't dislike Syed for cheating on Amira as much as she dislikes Christian, though she can't seem to explain why
