Talk about sitting on the fence...

She really brings nothing to the competition in terms of constructive or otherwise criticism but always has 'nice' things to say about the acts. Come on, if an act is dire at least have the balls to say so rather than worry about offending the other judges or the public - we'd respect you far more.

I have far more respect for Simon Cowell - he's fair and honest and actally says what we're all thinking

I never seen American Idol, was Paula biased to one judge instead of judging the competitors on their merit?

yeah, sharon is terrible

but louis jut says whatever is the opposite of what simon says

simon gets it bang on, then (even when the contestants agree with him like cassie tonight) gets painted the bad guy.

he is totally right almost all of the time. apart from saying tabby is a massive star, which i can't get

No, she just loved EVERYONE regardless of their talent. Admirable, but misguided IMO

Sharons opinions mean nothing to me anyway, and I hope not to many other people, as she only wants to have a go at simon.

If simon had Stevie Wonder and the Beatles in his group, she would find fault.

And before anyone makes any sarcastic comments (like I would), I am aware that 3/4 of the beatles are dead

Paula had nothing constructive to say. Sharon on the other hand is not scared to use a few expletives and tell it how it is like with Steve and the soul comment which was spot on. She even brought Louis up today for trying to play on Peters blindness. She is also the only one who can shut Simon up on occasion ( as much as I like him)

She is fabulous and brings real fun to the show with her jokes ("I need a pantyliner")

Go Sharon.

Yep and BOY WAS SHE MISGUIDED!!!! We used to roar with laughter and mouth silently(before she began speaking)"I REALLY love you" (insert generic contestant)gush gush, drunken ramble.
Remember the week when she was SO doped up with painkillers "Vicoden" I think and she slurred her way through (Atlanta auditions I think it was)the entire show, much to Randy's and Simon's amusement.
Aww PIV slurs...."we LOVE PAULA"....

Blimey - I missed the news tonight. That'll be a whole Sunday of tribute programmes then. Good job they held off a day or John Peel would've got bumped. It's the grandchildren I feel sorry for.

LOL - only 1/2 The Beatles are dead - John and George. Paul and Ringo are still very much alive - unless you know something I don't!

i like sharon but in this competition all she says is "you know i love you" to each act without actully JUDGING on the individual performance much like Paula Abdul does on AI

Sharon is doing herself no favours by being a judge in this show. She is showing all the really nasty, petty and snide facets to her character.

What makes her a judge of music anyway?

I never watched much of American Idol so I can't really compare her to Paula, but I do think she has very little constructive to say.

Simon - the only judge who makes useful sensible comments. He praises people when it is due and is usually constructive and sensible in his criticism when needed.

Louis - Just says the opposite of Simon all the time for the sake of it.

Sharon - She is so sycophantic and jusr sucks up to all the contestants all the time. I think the only time I have heard her say anything negative is with Steve. She's a complete waste of space as a judge.

Well she has managed the smashing pumpkins and coal chamber to name 2.
And may I say accusing someone of trying to get away from the topic when they were just answering your question is ignorent to the max.
Just because he disagrees with you does not make him wrong.

As an American who watches Idol everyweek, I can say Sharon is NOTHING like Paula Abdul! Sharon is awesome!!! Sharon may be on the fence at times, but she still does offer her opinion most of the time. Last night, she was a little bit paula, but at least she isnt afraid to speak her mind most of the time and tell people they suck like in bootcamp.
Paula really doesnt do anything. She is a terrible judge. all she is is a mum to the kids.

What I mean by the comparison was Sharon's apparent inability to say anything constructive to the competitors apart from 'You look wonderful/sexy etc etc. She may well tell people they suck in bootcamp but come the live shows it's a very different story. Why doesn't she quit trying to be everyones friend and just give them the benefit of her years of experience in the business? Personally, I admire honesty over meaningless platitudes

Yeah I have noticed that Sharon has been a bit more nice latley, but she is playing a game to get votes definetley! I guess she thinks that if she is nicer, she will get more votes. If the judges didnt have their own contestants, I bet she would be much harsher. I love Sharon, I actually wish she would replace Paula on AI! that would rock!!!!!

Surely Paula Abdul is supposed to be the US version of Nicky Chapman, whose critique of someone who brings a blackboard into an audition and drags their fingernails down it would begin "I enjoyed your performance..."

We can thank Fox that they didn't see the need for an equivalent of the judge who shares their name, and isn't a doctor. ITV should take note.
