I'm starting to find Phillip really dull and too much like that Lee DeWyze who won a few years ago, couldn't stand him.

As I've really liked this years group as a whole, I've tended to find someone who is my target for preferred elimination, they've been - Jeremy, Colton, Skylar, Deandre and now Phillip.
So I'm willing for Phillip to get my interest again, but right now I'm in an 'anyone to win but Phillip' mood.
Especially since I like change, and Phillip is just the same old same old typical AI winner. Enough already. :yawn:


Just once a few weeks ago, when Heejun was eliminated. Hollie was there too.

Skylar has really made leaps and bounds with me recently, she's gone from being one of the most predictable to one of those I look forward to seeing each week.

To be honest the only worthwhile singer left is Hollie and she seems pretty unpopular. Elise can't sing at all, Jessica is normally pretty bad but has had her good moments, or should I say one good moment (Sweet Dreams), Skylar is awful, really cannot stand listening to her she sounds so irritating, Joshua sounds okay for a while then seems to switch to roaring out the songs which is pretty cringeworthy. I don't like Phillip either, he bores me to tears and his tone isn't anything interesting but since Hollie is not going to win I guess he's the next best which is really sad for the standard of America's signers.

I prefer Hollie too. I just can't warm to Joshua and I don't like his voice. Hollie doesn't shout, and she doesn't go off pitch. She's a great singer, who aside from Honesty and parts of What A Feeling, has sung excellently every week.

Why is nobody mentioning Jessica ??

Am I behind the schedule or something and she's already been kicked ?

I totally agree, and cannot understand the level of support Hollie receives in this forum, which I have tended, perhaps incorrectly, to dismiss as partly down to her being a gutsy little Brit 'taking on the yanks in their own competition'. I doubt she would ever make the Top 3 girls in any series of X Factor.

I consider her totally unmarketable, her image, the Idol makeover, has improved a lot, and she has tidied up her garbled diction in her lower range, but she is still an old-fashioned singer with a dated delivery and above all a hard-edged tone to her voice which is not exactly warm and is mainly why she seems emotionless and sterile, only there for the big notes.

Joshua and Jessica are easily the best singers in the competition, with Jessica the most marketable and potential worldwide seller of the entire lot.

Joshua is probably the best male they've had in Idol along with the dynamic Adam Lambert, and unlike a series of past gospel boys, he holds pitch after his runs when others used to frustratingly lose it and ruin the overall performance. He has also been the standout of any duet or group song he's taken part in, and even Jessica has been visibly nervous when performing with him because he can sing in the same range as her, except for her female falsetto, and always with more power. All this and he's only 19.

Phillip is the most tonally unique, and his voice in its lower range matches the guitar's sound well, but he is of limited technical ability or range and is obviously trading on his looks. Elise, as with Colton, has been trying to be something she (and he) isn't - a rocker, when her voice reliably loses all its control if she overpowers it, and he would rather be loving his sister, snorting Bibles and attending hair salons than partaking in any sex, drugs and rock & roll. Skylar's a solid performer, but there's rarely any fireworks involved to make her better than a good corporate singer.

Gotta be the two J's for me, and if that, dude you're in the dog pound, I'm tellin' you that was dope, makes me a Randy Jackson, then, who knew... we got one right there...right there!

Joshua just sounds great to me every week. People like different things - My girlfriend loves country so is supporting Skylar, My mate likes artists so is supporting Phillip, I just love a great singer so I am supporting Joshua. I also like Jessica but her problem is that she cannot beat her first performance.

I strongly disagree with your comments about Hollie. I hate when Americans are so clearly racist to anyone not American. You have just made it clear why Hollie is not getting the votes. It is not because she is the best singer in a SINGING competition and getting insulted and told she is not good when she is but the fact she was born in England.

Hollie is clearly the best singer left, you look at the judges faces after Hollie sings and they struggle to find fault. One week Jennifer Who-pez even had to admit she was good and did you see her look away like she really didn't want to say it but knew she couldn't insult her. It is when the judges do that you know they want rid of someone despite them being better than others they have told are good.

Nope they find fault because she goes off key all the time. The judges are the most honest out of any of the talent shows. They have gave her praise when she as deserved it. She is by some way the weakest singer left. Jessica is way in front of her and Joshua is on another universe. If the judges had such a issue about her being British then why did they put her through to the live shows?

She doesn't go off key all the time. She's rarely hit a bum not.

And the judges aren't honest at all. They have their favourites, and no matter what those favourites do, they get told they're amazing. Yet someone like Hollie goes out and sings well every week, and she gets negative comments.

Sorry, but that made me laugh out loud big time. They're nowhere near the most honest, actually they're possibly the most unhonest set in any talent show for years and years within the UK or US. The absence of Simon Cowell is obvious for all to see. Do you really think people like joshua would be getting standing ovations on a weekly basis despite average performances? Hell no. It's madness to be quite frank and they're nowhere near the most honest, sometimes it almost seems like they're scared to be harsh and try to sugar coat things.

The panels on US X Factor and The Voice are way more honest, even with their own acts.

I agree, the judges on AI talk a load of bull 9 times out of 10.

Could not disagree more with you. The judges stand to gain nothing whoever wins so they call it how it is. Unlike X factor who have their own acts and just play games and Simon who is thinking who will make him money fast - drop them and move on to the next one.

Nothing about Joshua is average - his voice is out of this world.

Unlike Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger who just talk so much sense.

Never said they spoke sense either, but as a panel, at least they are sitting with people who do tell the truth once in a while. This years AI panel are so false with their comments it's unbearable.

Its all opinions. I really do find them honest and agree with almost all of their opinions. There probably doing Joshua no favours by keep standing but its hard not too when someone sings that well.
They have given really positive feedback to all of the contestants and judge song by song.

Watched last night and thought Hollie was the best followed by Skylar.

It's hard to separate the top 4 as they all have different qualities. I wasn't really a Jessica or Joshua fan, but they've upped their game in the last couple of weeks. The only one I feel isn't really Idol material is Hollie. I'm a bit iffy about Skylar - maybe as I'm not a fan of country music, I've preffered her when she dosesn't sing country but I liked her performance of Show Must Go On.

Is this a joke? Those judges certainly are. Honest they most certainly are NOT. Tehy have gotten thier favourites and unlike last year where they were not being biased this year is completely different. They basicaly told viewers who to vote for and they don't care one bit about any of the other contestants. But when question by Ryan about who did the best/worst or who is thier favourite etc they couldn't do it on the show. I have read somewhere that Randy Jackson said on a US chat show who he wants as the top 4. Ok so they can say it behind the contestants backs but not to their faces. How very honest of them....

Agree with this. I am glad i am not the only one who sees it. I did notice that Hollie was't so great when she sang the flashdance song but even so it was still better than most on that night. I really got furious when Hollie was in bottom three and the chosen ones escaped. How has Jessica managed to go from 7th of 7 to not getting the least votes again?Are they fixing the voting?

Last year the judges were still rubbish but they appeared to give out more constructive criticism and there was no bias (at least not so clear as this year anyway as there was no duet with two contestants with Who-pez squealing "are we looking at the...final? heh heh heh heh heh"). Worst judging panel ever. Judges are there to judge but also judges have to be impartial too.

Simon Cowell is the worse for that game. What does Randy stand to gain whoever wins. They are always going to think some people are better than others that is what they are paid for. I agree with their comments this year and have not thought they have been rude to anyone or put anyone down. Now Jimmy is a bit more brutal but I like that and on the whole he talks a lot of sense. I do think Joshua and Jessica are some way ahead on vocal talent and through out the process Joshua as not sang one note out of key with all the complicated runs. I get off the sofa and stand to applaud him because I dont think there is anyone around that can sing like him. Just my opinion.

I don't think she has ever been bottom. That week was the only week when the votes were a complete joke. It was probably set up to make good tele. Jessica deserves to finish second to Joshua with the rest no where.
