Detest is far too strong a word, I enjoy most foods.

That said I'd not wait in line to buy Casu marzu, Italian cheese with maggots in. I've tried it and decided its not for me.

If it meant eating to survive, I would imagine most people probably would eat anything but as the question was what people dislike, why make people feel bad for being fortunate not to be facing those circumstances? I'm sure the poorest of people have things they don't like either, I used to be one.

That is one of my hates too, my sister only eats the white of an egg - so Mum used to divide one egg between us

I also hate roast pork - think it is the texture cos I love pork steaks, and pork that has been cooking for hours, that it just falls apart, all the fat just drains away

I like most food, in fact some hates mentioned so far are some of my favourites.

The only things I can think of are whelks (don't like the texture) and olives (don't like the bitter aftertaste)
Probably wouldn't like tripe either, my Gran used to cook it up for their dog the smell wasn't very appealing.

Sad because I've realised why this country wastes so much food.”

That's all very noble and PC...I take it you don't hate any foods at all and you would eat whatever was put in front of you?

Lots, I'm a fussy sod, but butter and fatty meats top the list.

Other than the stuff most people seem to hate - liver etc my dislikes are usually actual dishes rather than singular food items.

For example I like all the things that go into a trifle individually but together to me it is the food of the devil.. wet cake, cold custard... *ugh*

I like most foods
but having a few laughs reading all the replies here
the one food mentioned which I could not bear to try would be
>>>>>>>>the jellied eels

I will try most foods - even ones that I know I haven't liked in the past - just in case my tastes have changed.

One exception - cider. I just cannot bear the smell - to me it smells very strongly of vomit.
This is all ciders - not just the cheap ones.

I can cook with it ok though - happy to make a cider gravy or sauce.
