' @AvrilLavigne: Just finished my record and now I'm going to take some time for myself before I embark on my next artistic journey..... '

I can't wait! I have loved every singl one of her albums, but I'm worried that she may have rushed this one as Goodbye Lullaby wasn't released that long ago.

To be honest she kind of needed to come up with something quite quickly after Goodbye Lullaby flopped (which was gutting as I loved most of it). If she disappeared for 4-5 years like she did last time it would probably kill her career.

Goodbye lullaby was hit and miss for me. I hope album 5 is a more improved return.

I must start by saying im so GLAD somebody made a thread about this I cant wait for the 5th album i have loved all her albums, i still listen to them all on a regular basis but i really hope that the 5th album will get Avril the recognision she deserves...there was a tweet from one her friends called gabe sayin something along the lines of "Avril has finished her 5th album...cant wait for you all to hear it, it like Candy for the ears" alot of fans think the capatalized "C" for candy could be a hint as to what the lead single may be...2 years ago she was working with Alex Da Kid and a song they did together was called "Candy"

Here is the instrumental for that song

Avril for X factor, she could do promo for the album.

I thought she'd be a great judge, seeing as anyone would wish for her type of success.

X Factor for cancellation.

I'd love to see a dark, gritty slightly punk monster of an album from her. She's covered the whole teen-pop spectrum by now, surely? Goodbye Lullaby was like Alanis Morissette without the balls, and TBDT was just... crap. She needs to grow up, lyrically and musically. But seeing how GL flopped we're probably in for a throwaway dance album. It kinda feels like Avril has been holding out since her first 2 albums.

Can't wait.

I'm so glad I brought Goodbye Lullaby on a whim last year; my favourite album of 2011. I've just seen how surprising 'well' Goodbye did as well. It sold 1.2m worldwide, which happens to be only 200,000 copies less than Britney's last album did; suggesting they both have around the same amount of core and loyal fans (with a few casuals like me thrown in as well). And seeing as many people on forums keep insisting that Femme Fatale under performed not flopped (worldwide, both were obviously massive flops in the UK) perhaps Avril didn't do 'so' bad after all. Certainly better than Christina and Bionic.

Saying that I certainly hope that Album 5 and her return to L.A Reid returns her to much larger worldwide success; and X-Factor of course would be a great way to do that. Judging has done wonders for JLO's and Maroon 5's careers (bizarrely worldwide not just in the US) and certainly won't harm Christina's when she makes her comeback. It could well do the same for Avril and Britney.

Putting X-Factor aside she needs to promote. Big time. Like Christina, Avril returned after years out of the game and did a pathetic amount of promotion (like Britney) and so only her loyal fans brought the album (like Britney). I hope L.A has put aside a hefty budget for promotion!

I do think she may still struggle with airplay, and getting causal music buyers to buy her stuff if she continues to release stuff like What The HellI (which she was forced to record) though. I love WTH, it's so catchy but it's like a song she would release when she was 17 not 26. And that's a major criticism people have with Avril. Saying that Carly Rae Jepson is #1 WW and she's a 26 year old pretending to be 14!

I loved Goodbye Lullaby apart from the songs the record label forced upon it.

Hopefully there will be less of that nonsense with Avril's new album. I look forward to it.

Goodbye Lullaby was finished AGES ago, think it came out a year+ after it was finished. So don't think this will be rushed. Can't wait!

I want an Under My Skin style album as that is my favourite. I think Nobody's Home is my favourite Avril song, I cried when I saw her perform it live.

Under my skin is a fantastic album, but think Chantal Kreviazuk had a lot to do with that.

Goodbye Lullaby took years to make and her record company did not want to push so she may not really have made a record in a while rather just been trying to push and adding to GL which is a shame as with a few more upbeat songs could have been a great album rather than a good one add in lack of promo no major singles and a huge gap where it was like where's Avril= flop still better than TBDT though so just hope this brings her back on an even keel as have always enjoyed a bit of Avril with the exception of TBD thing although Innocence, Girlfriend, Keep Holding On, Hot all great songs

She also wrote nobodys home with ben moody, who was the main man behind evanescence.

As long as she dont bring out another album like the best damn thing i will be happy, not sure who she has worked with on this new album.

The Goodbye Lullaby era has been a bit of a mess so I'm glad it's being put behind her now. I feel sorry for her because her record label just weren't behind her with it which made for some stupid decisions and a lack of promotion which the album really needed.

I have very good feelings about this album now that she is back with the person who first signed her, LA Reid. He has tweeted how happy he is with the album and many of people who she has worked with such as The Wreckers and Chad Kroeger have all complimented how creative she is and I think were going to hear some fantastic results. She's working with people she has never worked with before which is definitely what she needed, I hope she really showcases her voice again in this album because she is very under rated vocally. We saw some fantastic performances on The Black Star Tour.

I also wonder if we will hear of any of the Alex Da Kid stuff that she did about two years ago now? I remember watching a video of her in the studio with Alex and she said that they had been working on their next big hit... Interesting, I would love it to hear.

I hope her break isn't too long and we get some more details or announcements soon!

I think it will be released early 2013. I just cannot wait, she was my first music love. GL was great, but it just didn't have record label backing and didn't chart very well. I can just vision this album being a hit, I really hope so.

Hopefully LA will get her back on X Factor USA, she performed as a finalists duet last year and was great (although it was a weird duet)

Goodbye Lullaby grew on me, but only a few songs, a lot were quite bad. Wish You Were Here has become one of my favourite Avril tracks. Under My Skin is my favourite Avril Album, although I find myself going back to Let Go a lot more recently too.

I think Best Damn Thing has a bed reputation, but I personally loved it when it came out and some of the tracks are still great.

Avril has her fanbase. I think I still prefer her first album because I really like the first single and then I got the album along with other CDS that day in Woolworths. I remember it was a hot day and I didn't know if should get the cassette tape or the CD and in the end I got the CD and then listened to the album and loved it so that's why i stayed a fan and listened to her later albums and will listen to this new one too.
