The technology on that 2pac Hologram blows my mind! amazing stuff...i find it a little bit spooky as well.

It was flawless and a really impressive moment, but I wouldn't like it to take over. It's amazing for some really special occasions, but bands touring without actually being present in each venue? With all due respect, I wouldn't like that at all. The whole point of touring and performing is the interraction with the crowd

That said, the holograms are a great way of paying tribute to artists who have passed away, so maybe they could be used for award shows and festivals more in the future, but not for artists who are still active!

They did this with Mariah Carey aswell. They had her performing somewhere, but they put holograms of her in like 5 different venues around the US. So she was still performing live, just in 5 different places at the same time.

And in Japan they have this pop star that actually is a hologram. She doesn't represent a real person, but the hologram is a musical artist. So we think pop music is manufactured enough already, but in the future perhaps the pop artists won't even be real humans!!

I didn't think it was the first time but it seems to be the best hologram so far. I was thinking that it would mean the perfect performance every time or would there be scope for some ad lib stuff as well?

They manipulated his vocals on that hologram and not all of it is actually pac rapping but somthing they created in a studio...like at the start when he shouts out 'what the f**k is up Coachella!'

Yeah I would like to see an all-dead charity concert featuring Tupac, Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Ian Curtis, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and maybe Keith Moon on drums. They could call it Dead Aid instead of Live Aid.

I know but really whats the difference. The rest of the band were playing live to Freddie's Vocals and Piano. Even if they produced a Hologram they cant exactly interact with him, same with This Tupac thing its old footage projected onto the stage just not on a screen.

Its not old footage..its just based on old footage, Its CGI/motion capture over an actor copying old film of tupac on stage...they get him to do and say things he's never done before.

That just explains how a hologram works..not how they got him to do and say things he's never done before.

My guess is they recorded an actor recreating a performance of 2pac..and then they put CGI over the top of him so it looked like pac..like how they turned turned andy serkis into golem in lotr...recorded it and edited the vocal and then displayed it on stage holographically.

you can see his face looks abit computerised..and his abs have never looked so perfect.

Well this technology isnt anything new, they've been using it in places like Japan for years.
