Car with dogs inside it

I've been walking our dog around the streets near our house and there's a cul de sac with a nice green. I know that it has a reputation for day parking. The last few days I've noticed that there a car parked there with two dogs in one of those shaded fabric crates. I hadn't realised the first time until the dogs inside started to bark when we went passed by. I think the owner comes back about 6.30 or 7ish as I saw her return that first day but drove straight off without taking the dogs out. However the car was there again last night. And today I went for a walk, the dogs inside as they barked and an hour later it was still there with the dogs inside. The weather has been warm today but I noticed the rear windows were open about an inch. I've never seen the dogs come out. It seems really odd to me and I genuinely don't know if I ought to report it or not? Any thoughts?

I'd definately report it to the dog warden if it was me. If you leave a note commenting on the car, then it's quite likely the owner will just ignore it and park out of your view. I'd tell them the details of every time you've seen it happen.

I just don't understand people doing things like this, our dogs are part of the family.

I would have to report it too - probably to the RSPCA in the first place

Partially open windows make so little difference to the temperature in the car, and although it's quite cool at the moment, with our weather, it could change at any time

I'd hate to have it on my conscience if anything happened to the dogs

Thanks, I wasn't sure if I was over reacting. I'm going to walk around tomorrow and see if the car is there still and take the registration number down. If I see the owner I will have a gentle word otherwise report it.

I think I'd just report it to the RSPCA and / or police - who tend to be quite concerned about animals in cars after they've killed a few of their own police dogs in this fashion. I'd do it on a day that I knew the animas were there. The fact the crate is shaded has no bearing on how hot the car it is in will get.

If you have "a gentle word" it may just result in the person parking the car in a different place so the dogs may still suffer but you won't know to do something about it.
