Haven't had one for years but saw a pack of smoked saveloys in ASDA and thought i'd buy them.
I always like some cooked meat in the fridge - deli meat, frankfurters etc.

I wonder if they are still as popular as they where when I was a child.
Frankfurters and other smoked/cured meats are popular they days but you don't generally see or hear about saveloys.

These ones are similar to Mattessons, just a slightly softer texture.

I sometimes have one as a treat from the chippy. Love them

I've had them from the chippy............don't think I've ever seen one in a supermarket, unless they call them something else........

I bought a pack of those Herta franfurters - I thought they might be all right on a butty but they weren't very nice. They're OK chopped up in a pasta sauce

Try the Waitrose own brand ones - they're much nicer than Herta.

I like Herta franks. The standard ones I don't use as a filling. I just snack on them.

These are the saveloys I got

No reason they couldn't be used as hotdogs or in a pasta. I like them dipped into salad cream

I've never tried a shop bought saveloy. They never look or smell like the ones in the chippy
