My friend was talking about this. She knew right away they'd be getting through, spending a good five minutes in the car with them, turning up to auditions in a half filled car park and no queue when they walked towards the building.

Ah, found it!

I bet Simon wishes that he hadn't invited him back ...

Sharon: "Stay out the pub, d----head!" *chuckle*”

The one I remember was definitely Ray Quinn.

It was at boot camp.

I can find the video of him being rejected (3:03) but unfortunately I can't find Simon's realisation that 'he's made a mistake'

I think I do remember it, now you come to mention it.

And there's always a "this will be bad" Cowell cut right before every "Subo" audition.

It in no way distracts from the cheesy delights that is BGT, which I find far less manipulative than The Voice. At least the hard luck ("I have no confidence") and we're charming ("Look, even our name is adorable") stories are short.

The production assistants probably knew they had a good chance of getting through with the judges so asked if they could put cameras in their car on the way to the show. It could have still been in the show if the judges said no, but the production assistants knew they had a good chance. This is all to add to the "backstage" experience.

My reckoning is the producers decided they want this act in the lives, and want the public to love them. So, they made the Lovable Rogues live up to their name. They want the public to fall in love with the cheeky chappy image. I think in a room somewhere they decided "these guys are one of our live acts, but let's make it seem like they are loved by the public and the judges. let's make it look like they are normal young guys having a laugh, then BANG they are amazing... let's attempt the Susan Boyle effect"

But everyone is clicking on to it now.

We could have got another audition into the five minutes we spent watching 3 boys go around a roundabout in a car who then just happened to get, oh such a fright, when a police car passed them, having just talked about it being illegal. Lucky those camera's were filming eh?

Here's the video -

The trip involved driving multiple times around a roundabout outside The Birds Nest Pub, Deptford, London http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/221753

Passing a Iceland opposite a Dominos Pizza which is 210 Trafalgar Road, Greenwich.

Finally parking in a Sainsbury's car park, you can tell it is Sainsbury's because in the background you can see the orange circles in navy squares on the lamp post which Sainsbury's use to remind people of what part of the car park they are in.
From the cross markings defining the spaces rather than lines it looks like Sainsbury's Greenwich (off Bugsby's Way).

All locations look right on Google Street View.

Then they magically walk up to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

All very true, but why then do they never mention all that and go out of their way to make it look like 10,000 people turned up in a parking lot and they all file in and perform for the judges?

That is a great example of lying by omission that all these show do. They make it look all one way and when challenged smugly get out of everything by saying "We didn't state that we did". They know exactly what they are doing and manipulate it all the way.

They also just get someone to say something and then edit it whenever they want to make reality what they want instead of what it really was.

It is that which is killing these sorts of show as even the thickest of thick people are starting to see the joins and are getting fed up with it.

This format has run its course.

Yes! Absolutely!

Have you not read the horror stories about these shows? You sign your life away to them and do as they say. The only choice you have is "goodbye!"

When a show like this is created they have corporate lawyers set up many pages of terms and conditions and all are in favour of the show and not the artist. They are there to make the show that they want to and make money from it. The only choice the artist has is join in with that or F Off!

Again it is one of those misnomers that this show is here to bring the best of British talent to our screen, It's not at all! It does what it likes when it likes and could not care less about the artist. If one won't do it, someone else will. They have also started bring in people who are clearly not from Britain, so how does that work? Answer: It doesn't They just do whatever they want.

I have just unearthed this topic because a friend of mine was appearing on BGT yesterday at Manchester, having already had to go through three auditions before yesterday... and I have now seen what goes on first hand and just how fake things are, including 'false' registration!!!

I also couldn't believe the number of re-takes of some of the filming for something that is supposed to be spontaneous! The day proved to me that it's a TV show first and foremost and a talent show second. It's so staged its unbelievable unless you are there with an act to see what goes on first hand!!

Don't believe what you see on TV, it's so fake but good to see just what goes on!!!
