I have looked and can't see a thread unless its US pace. I just loved it. The music is great and the actors are superb, never mind the plot which is brilliant. Running out of adjectives here

I recorded it last night, but I haven't been able to watch it yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing. It looks really good.

Well I really enjoyed it. The music is excellent and original unlike Glee which is all covers (which I don't watch BTW as it is a teen thing). And I like all of the characters. Good casting IMO. I don't see how Steven Speilberg would put his name to something if it wasn't good. The fact that a second series has been signed upon the back of the first series, speaks volumes

I loved it. I am wondering why it is on so late? Are other episodes more fruity?

I assume it was originally taking the usual 9pm slot, but they didn't want a 'musical' based show clashing with the BBC/ITV talent shows.

I really enjoyed this. I knew Katharine McPhee from Idol and was glad to see she's a very convincing actress.

taping it tonight and will watch tomorrow. Do know it has no bearing on how it really is on the NYC audition circuit but then, it's entertainment not a documentary. lol

I loved it. I think Katharine McPhee has a beautiful voice. I'm already dying to see the next episode.

Very much so. I suspect this is the more gritty and realistic side of how shows are made on Broadway and not the mamby pamby shows that are portrayed in Glee for the teen market. Successful though it is, Glee does not really give the real story. Original Music and Lyrics instead of covers should give he game away for starters and that this is a totally different scenario. Bad relationships, bad vibes between writers, directors, family feuds, Lotharios (Oversexed directors etc who think they are God) (Which is why it is past the watershed BTW)

If people think they are going to see a 'better' Glee, then they are going to be disappointed. Because it isn't better. Its in a different league and leaves Glee in its wake.

I watched it...not quite sure what to make of it.

The baseball song and the whole Maralyn concept brought to mind 'The Producers' (though not as good obviously!!) Indeed the baseball song was jaw droppingly, cringingly awful!!

BUT the rest of it wasn't bad. Schmaltzy at times, cliched at times, but overall entertaining and captivating.

One of the repeats is in an 8pm slot. No PIN on Anytime, so no watershed issues.

Thought it was excellent. Very good pilot, leaves you wanting more.

Best of all, unlike much of Speilburg's other work and indeed a lot of other US shows it is safe to watch as a second season has been green lighted.

Smash brought to mind The Producers? Wow! We definitely watched two very different programs. Again,

StressMonkey, quit now because it's not going to get better for YOU.

Btw, I found the baseball number very good in terms of original music and really enjoyed the choreography. In fact, all of the original music as well as the cover music are very well done in this series. Yes, I've seen all the episodes that aired thus far.

Was a big fan of Katherines in American Idol and thought she was superb in this. Throughly enjoyed it, roll on episode 2.

(sorry, had to snip some smilies!)

lol - but I enjoyed it!!

There has been so much new stuff this season that has been unwatchable, dull or a waste of a good idea. I lasted 30 minutes with Alcatraz before I couldn't watch anymore of its awfulness. Touch I lasted three painfully dull episodes before I didn't care if it got any better. And Once Upon a time, yes. There I was watching the wrong program

But Smash - despite hating the Marilyn idea and singing a rousing chorus of 'Spring Time for Hitler' once I'd got my jaw back up off the floor after the baseball number - I was totally entertained by.

The singing is great, the acting is consistently above par, it has plot lines already establishing, the characters are believable and interesting.

And - The Producers is one of my all time favourite musicals - love the original Mel Brookes film too. So comparing the concept & a song to it isn't an insult in any way

Its just that the baseball song was - IMO - so bad taste & awful - especially with the whole production around it - I sat there with my mouth wide open in shock lol

I may be watching a different show to you - but both versions are pretty good

It was good but I did find some of the production distracting. They used a lot of ambient light, so in apartments and rehearsal rooms the actors were barely lit to give it an authentic feel. But some times I found it too much. There also seemed to be a lot of background noise during some scenes. Maybe it was just my telly.

Well, I'm a big baseball fan and I really liked the baseball number, but I know quite a few baseball fans on my side of the Atlantic who agree with you. I accepted the whole thing as a representation of baseball from a "girly" point of view, Marilyn's point of view (baseball diamonds equating with diamonds as in jewels etc.)

And I thought it was just me. Alcatraz and Touch I have difficulty in watching and think to myself every week "Can I be bothered?" No I can't now !!! And touch particularly looked so promising. But both are just too fragmented to be addictive.

Call Back

Good second episode....With great tunes, {20th Century Fox Mambo} and Plots going along fine...I just hope there's more rivalry between Karen & Ivy....can't be over for Karen already.

But Julia's Son wanting the Sister more....what's that all about, seemed a bit strange to me.

Not understanding the Leo (Julias son) bit atm but guessing he may go off the rails a bit because he feels betrayed. But this has nothing to with the musiacal - just a side line.

I agree that the Karen/Ivy rivalry has to be far from finished but unsure where this is going. What is clear is that Derek has the hots for Karen and for Ivy for different reasons. Ivy is willing/Karen is not.

I am loving the new music, Really great scores and lyrics but slightly disappointed that covers are being used to show the talent of the two major players when the newer music is great or them.

Took a peak at the spoilers BTW and
Spoiler
