Louis, Louis, Louis.... What have you done??
At the start of the live competition the groups was arguably the strongest category. I was quite impressed by the diversity of the groups Louis picked and the absence of cheesy boyband material.
However... since then, Louis seems to have found his self destruct button and his mismanagement of his acts is solely responsible for the precarious position they seem to be in now. G4 - They are a class act, but Louis just does not seem to know how to handle them at all. Rediculous song choices, confused styling. He's turned them into a novelty act. VWS - They lack the mental strength to survive. They crumble at negative feedback and their performances have got worse. Changing their song at the last minute because it wasn't working out (as he said on The Xtra Factor after) was the worse thing he could do for their confidence. 2 to Go - I think Louis only really picked them to get the sympathy vote. They could have worked if they had the right songs and performing as a duo. Instead Louis focused too much on patronising the group by the "Look, peter's blind but look how talented he is... oh and his best friend can sing a bit as well" . Last week peter played the piano, this week the keyboard and sax... what would it have been next week if they had got through? A one man band?? And what's more Louis can't even defend himself. Simon was absolutely right in his comments last night and all Louis can do is insult him. He offers no constructive criticism. It's a shame cos up until last night I had a lot of admiration for Louis. He's completely lost it. |

I'm starting to wonder if G4 are massively ahead in the voting and that has given Louis the confidence to try different things with them knowing their fan base will still support them. Louis knows there is absolutely no way VWS are going to win or even survive another week. I reckon he has sacrificed 2 to go and VWS for G4 and he knows he can experiment with them on live TV to see what does and doesn't work.

A rehash of pop songs sung in a light operatic style does have a 'so what?' factor and again, is dated and has been done before - it's not different or unique. 'G4' may get close to the final with Saturday night television voters, but they are never going to cross-over as a mainstream chart act or sell many records. Very few people who vote, actually buy the product!
