What are these numpties on, Thin Lizzy is one of the greatest rock bands ever. They wipe the floor with the moaning arse that is Bono and U2.

Phillp Paris Lynott RIP was one of the greatest lyricsits of all time his lyrics are pure poetry on tracks like Emerald.

and Naydine Coyle as the 5th greatest im sure someones taking the P**s

Thats why polls like this are not important, guess its just kids who voted and people just piss around voting stupid. Just look at who is at number 5. I blame guitar pro for publishing this rubbish, my husband who is a pro guitarist himself stopped reading this ages ago as its a joke publication

Thin lizzy have always been the top irish band for me and gary moore was without a doubt one of the greatest guitarists who ever lived, the edge is not even in the same league as gary.

Best Irish musicians of all time:

1. U2
2. Van Morrison
3. Snow Patrol
4. Two Door Cinema Club
5. Nadine Coyle

Worst Irish musicians of all time:

1. Boyzone
2. Westlife
3. Shane MacGowan
4. Thin Lizzy
5. The Cranberries

Cranberries 5th worst? they're awesome. I think Jedward are the worst Irish act of all time

The fact that Nadine Coyle was voted 5th best completely destroys any credibility this poll might have.

Two acts that should be in the top 5 are Thin Lizzy and Rory Gallagher, the 2 greatest musical exports from Ireland.

I don't like U2 but I find that I can't really argue with their placing. Thin Lizzy being 4th worst is just bizarre and the Cranberries were a good band. Also Nadine Coyle wtf?

Thin Lizzy and The Cranberries should not be on the worst list as they gave us irish something to be proud off by making great music.

Jedward won an award for best just before christmas

To be fair (and I am a huge Jedward fan) these things really depend on who is voting and if the fan bases find out about them in time to get their votes in

I have to say that Thin Lizzy imo wrote few great songs whereas U2 wtote some great classics during their heyday. You don't get to achieve 22 Grammys for nothing or by managing to fool a lot of people for that long. I hated Thin Lizzy's twin guitar line-up period, and their music often sounded clichéd. Having said that, they didn't deserve to be listed in the 'worst 5' either. And yes, why no Rory Gallager in the top 5?

1. U2
2. Van Morrison
3. Snow Patrol
4. Two Door Cinema Club ?
5. Nadine Coyle ?

I agree with the first two but there are so many others possible:

What about Ash, The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, Paul Brady, Rory Gallagher, The Corrs even? And putting Thin Lizzy and The Cranberries in the bottom 5?

I'm actually quite pleased, given the nature of this poll, to see Shane MacGowan voted the worst Irish artist of all time.

And they're Northern Irish, so technically British.

I was thinking that about Snow Patrol as well. I'm assuming they meant both countries.
