4oD - Homeland

Up to 2 weeks ago I could watch Homeland on 4oD without any problem. Now I can no longer stream nor even watch older episodes that are still available. The adverts leading up to recent episodes stream ok, but when the show starts I get the error message "rights to this asset is no longer available".. Other 4oD shows play with no problem. Anyone else finding the same problem?

Have you complained to Channel 4?

Yes. I sent them an email on Sunday. They've replied today and admitted there's an issue with 4oD at the moment which they have been trying to resolve, so I'm glad it's not my pc or browser, although the problem occurs on 2 other browsers that I've tried.

Could this be similar or related to the 4od issue I am also having...

I have just started watching 4oD catchup shows on my iPad to Airplay over to the TV. Generally speaking this works fine, but I noticed something odd recently for the last couple of shows I have watched.

Essentially, after the first ad break, the ads play then the show ends. It may go to the final credits, or it may just end. If I start playing the TV show again, it doesn't remember where I left off, so I have to start from the beginning, fast forward to the first add break, and then the same thing happens again.

Has anyone else noticed this?

By the way, what email address did you use for 4OD, as I would also like to write to them.

As one of the very few people left in the world that doesn't own an iPad, I don't know whether the 2 issues are related.

However if you address your problem to Doug Masterton (customer support) at ViewerEnquiries@Channel4.co.uk you should get a personal response within a couple of days. At least Ch 4 seem to have a decent customer service I'm glad to say.

No worries, but I appreciate your help and thanks for the email. Of note, I watched an episode last night on 4oD and noticed there were no ads at all. The program also played all the way to the end. It is possible they realized an issue and switched off ads until it is sorted.

Enjoy while it lasts...

I also can't watch Homeland. I get the same error message. Since episode 8 they stopped working.

I can watch all other programmes on 4oD.

It's very annoying because I don't get Channel 4 where I am and 4oD is the only option.

Channel 4 sent me back this email:

If you require further information, feel free to email me back or visit http://www.channel4.com/4viewers/faq
Kind regards,

Channel 4 Viewer Support

It was nice of them to be so prompt but their information was useless.

I tried all the troubleshooting tips but still no luck. I guess I'll just have to miss all future episodes of Homeland.

When I looked at the weekend on my playstation they only had the last couple of episodes available so I assumed they weren't showing the entire series.
