Things eaten conscious of Health

I think it would be a nice idea to have a thread in which you can register the good things about your diet by notifying everyone when you eat something that is purposefully for the benefit of your health, from fruit to organics to supplements.
I just ate a Satsuma!

I think it's really important to acknowledge our well known phrase, an apple a day!

A glass of bitter gourd. Tastes like grass but it's good for you apparently.

Feel free! I'll give it a try if available locally and veggie.

I had a protein shake into which I added half a cup of oatmeal, a whole (ie skin and all) kiwi fruit, a banana (sans skin) and a whole pear (sans stalk). And as I had made a cup of green tea earlier and forgot to drink it, I added that too and then blitzed it all together. The tea was still a little warm. The end result was somewhat akin to drinking a pint of warm vomit.

Sure it did me the world of good. But if I get still end up with cancer after all of this I will be so peed off.

I had my first piece of 3 fruit I take to work each day,

helps me not snack on chocolate when I've got a satsuma an apple and a banana on me at work.

Had a glass of Cider vinegar (1 part vinegar 5 parts water) after my lasagne dinner last night,

I've heard about this cider vinegar - I might give it a try too. is it just cleansing? I've run out of my gourd until Friday - but it won't hurt, one can drink it in 3 months on 1 month off stints.

Btw, if I take ages to reply or join in - we're having intermittent trouble with t'internet - Virgin are supposedly 'fixing' it tomorrow evening.

I suffer from regular hair mega-shedding because of my poor diet (lack of fruit and veg a lot of the time) but now I am getting on the case.

Yesterday I had Covent Garden soup called 'souper greens' with is packed full of green veg and is low fat! It tastes nice too.

I've had an apple and lots of strawberries so far today. I'm not really a huge fan of fruit, but trying to do my bit to be healthy!

I love to drink green tea which is full of anti-oxidants and eat salmon full of healthy omega oils.

Anyone struggling with five a day should try making my low fat pork noodles - it has a whopping THREE portions of five-a-day!

As well as a pork chop, a whole shredded carrot, half a bag of spinach and four spring onions also went into this. You also add half a pack of mushrooms too:

I make my own home made granola. It is mainly oats with seeds, nuts and fruit thrown it for interest. The wet ingredients are warm water, oil and honey but I reduce the oil and honey and add more water.

When I cook it I take a lot of care to keep turning it to make it golden brown but not burnt - that way you still get nice flavour even though there isn't much honey or oil in it.

I have this for brekkie every day and lunch as well about 3 times a week. I have it with home made yoghurt (easiyo) and it keeps me full up for a long time.

I just had an orange followed by a banana.

I try to think of the good a food is going to do me when I eat it. If I eat the occasional cake or piece of chocolate I think to myself it's good for my morale.

I have a bad family history of heart disease and diabetes which is already showing itself in other members of my generation so I do try to watch my diet.
