Hey everyone,

I finished watching the second season of the US Apprentice recently and it got me wondering how many people have seen the show on this forum and what their opinion of it was.

For me, I've seen the first season and the second season. I enjoyed both, but it isn't as good as the UK version, imo. The US version overdramatised everything and often Trump's firing seem quite bizarre. One key example was in Season 1 where a candidate simply said "I think we got duped" and she got fired for disloyalty.

What's your opinion of the US Show?

Ive seen quite a few of them, its more dramatic than the UK version which is more serious.

I prefer the uk version.

If you do continue to watch it, season 3 has not only the best winner ever, but probably the best person ever on UK or USA version.

I have to say, I was going to stop watching on principle, as I hated the losing finalist in Season 2 and had no idea how they made the final, but I think I may watch Season 3 now. It was just hard enough to follow 18 people in Season 2, but it will be far more difficult in Season 3 with mixed teams at the start.

Yeah the runner up in season 2 was rubbish and the winner was predictable.

I would recommend season 3, its the best one, but you will have to get know 18 people again, but you will get used to them in a couple of episodes, only problem is there are a alot of episodes.

I watched a few episodes from one of the later seasons - the losing team had to eat, wash and sleep in tents in the garden; the winning team lived in luxury, their PM's given the opportunity to take on the Nick and Karen role for the next task. It was all faintly ridiculous even before you factor in Donald (Captain Crazy) Trump.

That was season 6 when he tried to change it to bring in viewers.

I like Series 3 quite a bit, but it's far too long. It's odd, because I'm not sure who you'd cut out, because the cast is gold, but 17 episodes is just too many. I also quite enjoyed Series 2, if only for the utter trainwreck women - Blinky Praying-Mantis Maria, Robbed Pamela, Crazy Stacie, The Original Bitchmidget, Pant-Dropping Ivana, Evil Fembot Jen... I was rooting for

4's alright, 5 is SO.BORING, 6 is one of my favourite reality tv trainwrecks ever and I can't believe Trump ever expected anyone to take it seriously and half the cast don't (Jenn telling him how the sun works then laughing as she got fired <3 <3 <3) and 7 is unwatchable. I have no idea why anyone would put themselves through any of the shitty celebrity versions, even for a bet.

I've seen the American version. I think the UK version is more "believable". The US version has more fake candidates. Some of them are too good to be true. Some of them are too bad to be real. The only good thing about the US version is that Donald Trump is honest in the way that he makes clear that The Apprentice is nothing about "business". For him, it is purely for the purpose of giving us entertainment, NOT business lesson.

Another good thing is that the US version has much better prizes for the winning team. If I recall correctly, in one episode the winning team was given prize of diamond shopping accompanied by Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins & Miss USA Shandi Finessey ( Donald Trump is a patron of Miss Universe Pageant by the way). I think that's awesome!

They generally have better tasks. They often involve working with more major companies, or are more imaginative than ours. The task rewards are better. The job at the end is better, and probably attracts better candidates.

Mr Trump is much, much worse than Lord Sugar, which undermines the show. He seems to think good candidates should be popular with the others, so fires whoever they gang up against, which is usually the losing PM, without going into any depth. Occasionally he will fire someone almost at random because they say something that offends him. The UK show has a bit better editing.

I watched every episode of the US version (just a few minutes ago finished watching Sundays episode) and I must admit I find the format works much better on the US version. It has just more 'grandeur' about it which fits in with the premise of the show better (Apart for Season 6 (Tent City!)). Who would you rather be an apprentice to: Donald Trump or Alan Sugar?

They have managed to keep it going with the 'Celebrity Apprentice', which at first I found a bit stupid but that seems to work well now too. The UK version always feels a lot 'cheaper' (probably as it is!), but if they did it the same as the US version it wouldn’t work.

I do remember one US season, where you could easily tell they were dubbing some Trump speech over boardroom scenes, which was very odd and they even denied it!

I agree, I watch celeb apprentice and I love it (especially the cat fights lol and Teresa and Nene) I think the format works good.

BTW on last Sundays episode do you think the right person went? I so want Dayanna to get fired. I am starting to get sick of her TBH

TBH I am fed up of Aubrey, her 'walk out' a few weeks ago was just over dramatic and also her constant need to claim she did everything, even when we saw she didn’t! There is a prime example of that in Sunday’s episode.

One criticism I do have of the latest US versions is the fact the 'boardroom advisers' (as that’s all they do now) are not there for the whole task, so moments like described above cannot be confirmed by them, instead it’s what the team say, which of course just results in a disagreement and Trump never really knowing the truth.

Also Trump, especially on the Celebrity ones, does seem to keep people in he likes, look at Lou as a prime example.

Agreed, Aubrey is becoming a pain

At first I thought "She is fierce and sexy and bring good drama" now I am like "*itch please GTFO" she has become unbearable.

Next week looks good though. It seems Dayanna Vs Lisa will be the showdown of the season IMO. I was initially sympathetic towards Dayanna but last episode and looking back I think she comes across as sneaky and she was very snide towards Clay. Lisa as much as a loud mouth she is I kinda hope she makes it.

I think Lou was lucky TBH cause Dee IMO was not that great and Adam and George where horrid PM's.

Also I do WISH Trump would order the PM's to bring Two people back to the boardroom. I was annoyed Tia was too gutless to bring back Aubrey and it robbed us of a good boardroom.

The advisors do see very little of the task I agree. Ivanka is the better advisor as she does make good suggestions, but next week Don will see MORE than he has seen all season with the Lisa Vs Dayanna fight.

On topic of the thread I think the worst decision Trump ever made was when Melissa Rivers got fired. I was so mad cause Brandy and Annie set her up. LOL

I like it, but the UK boardrooms are much more tense and exciting. Our version has more of an atmosphere, I feel.

I do like the US version, however.

I've only ever seen some of the earlier series of the American version (in fact I saw the American version before the UK one) but the tasks always seemed so much better.

In the UK it'll be sell some tat down the market, in the American version they'd have to design a new bottle for Pepsi.

Yeah, I like the ones with 'normal' people in them. I must be one of the only people who enjoyed series 6 (tent city) the most. If you do ever get around to watching that series, there's a good blog done by one of the contestants which explains the ins and outs of the show, episode by episode (sorry, I don't have a link at the mo).

I don't think I saw the earlier series. Where did you all see them?

I don't really like the celebrity version as it's just about who can beg their richest freinds to buy something. I did see some of the Joan Rivers series recently. Her and her daughter are nasty pieces of work.

They are all on Youtube as far as I know. That's how I watched the first two seasons.

Here's the link for the first episode of Season 1:
