The current US Celebrity Apprentice (S12) is fantastic car crash TV.

The Australian celeb version is now on season two and is shaping up the same way (though season one was a bit naff).

I'd really like to see a UK celeb version done the same way as the normal one just seems to be doing it by the numbers now.

The ones I was talking about are not shown in the UK. The BBC do eventually show the US versions, details can be found here when they're on

PM immunity is a great idea.

I've only seen one season of the celebrity apprentice (with Piers Morgan) and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Donald Trump is more rounded than LAS, and his daughter is a LOT more insightful than Karren.

None of the winners work for Donald, and there's a fairly strong current of opinion that most of them never did. They were given vanity titles and did promo for his projects, but they never worked for him in any meaningful fashion in the way the UK winners did for Sugar before the prize-change. The show is fundementally an (entertaining) scam and a pure game-show. I don't think they even told the winner of the last non-celebrity edition what her pretend job was supposed to be.

No one watched season 10 though

I think the first winner did well... he has some cruddy reality show I believe and his wife is expecting a child.

Yeah, Bill has his reality shows, Kelly runs some fantasy sports online business that's fairly succesful, Kendra found Jesus in a major way and got involved in lots of dodgy property deals, Randall went into politics and does consultancy, Sean set up a succesful recruitment agency, and Stefani...is probably still doing law in some capacity.

Most of them (at least the men) have done fairly well for themselves, I'm just not sure how much of it is to do with Trump. Most of the winners were very succesful before they started, or on the path to it.

As for Trump being better than Sugar, he's made his share of awful decisions too. I mean, he fired Khloe Kardashian purely because he found out she had a DUI. That had NOTHING to do with the show.

He should have done his research on the contestants.

Of the few seasons I've seen, he seems a lot more approachable than Sugar. The firings are usually very friendly, it's strange when he finally does lose his temper. I remember the whole "white trash" incident, it sort of reminded me of when a nice teacher gets angry and it shocks the class.

I have watched all the episodes of the US. I love it. But, its not as good as the UK version, I look at it more as throwaway entertainment. The early seasons were the best but the celebrity ones have been good too generally.

In the second season I think I am the only person who liked
Spoiler
I felt like she got unfairly pigeon-holed by Ivanka and Kevin as someone who skates by, and was strong on most of the tasks except the last few where she let herself down a bit. She was better than most of the gaggle of women that series though. What a train wreck they were.

My favourite is series 3 though. Such amazing drama. I loved
Spoiler

The latter was one of the most unfair firings ever. "You choked".

The current season is great drama but I dislike most of the cast. Lisa and Aubrey come across as such hateful people, and Clay is so smug. The rest are a little bit useless, except Arsenio sort of.

Agreed. (I've reordered your points to make my reply simpler).

trump is better

PM immunity is a great idea.
I disagree. Indeed, the only reason PM immunity is needed is because Trump is so poor. He fires the project leaders so often, making it a poisoned chalice that no sensible candidate would accept without the increased reward. It's a fix for a problem we don't have.

That's especially apparent this series. We've just had the 6th task, and no PMs have been fired. Nor has anyone been fired the week after they won as PM. Nobody needed immunity.

(Edit: according to Wikipedia (season 3 spoilers)

That's what I meant by "winking". It wasn't anything to do with task performance, just taking a dislike to a candidate because she was flirting with him. You never know what's going to push his buttons.
