wild bird help

A small thrush fell out of the sky and landed at my feet earlier..I have put it in a cat box, given it water in a bowl and some wild bird seed in a bowl and placed it in the shed for peace and quiet. It seemed quite lively after an hour or so and I took it outside and opened the door to the box but it can not fly..I put it back in the box and placed it back in the shed to keep it calm..any advice on what else to do would be helpful. We live in the country and I heard gunshots in the distance a few moments before I found it..do you think it was startled...it dosn't appear to have an injury.

I once found a little baby blackbird. The RSPB told me to leave it where it was and it's parents would find it. I did that but was afraid of a cat coming to eat it. So I kept watch. Eventually it went into the bushes.

If it's lively I would let it go. It's cruel and unnecessary to keep it captive longer than necessary and it could lead to more stressed out bird. When it's save let it go.

It's not easy deciding what to do. I hope the little birdy survives. Is it a baby?

I think so..but it is not really tiny..I just put it in a safe place in the garden..still in the box but with the door taken off but it is sitting in the bird seed bowl looking content and has no inclination to leave the box..it is a sitting target\\\!

When it's ready it will fly off. Sometimes they take hours and others minutes.

we once found a baby pigeon and we put in a box and managed to find a lady that helped baby birds but she told us we should have just left it where it was but she took it in anyway. She did say to give them some soggy weetabix (with milk). Last year I saw another baby pigeon who had fallen out of the nest it was so hard for me to just walk past it and leave it because it looked so helpless.
