If its true then bland and boring comes to mind
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() .Didnt think she was a good judge the first time and I doubt she could be any different. While someone with technical knowledge would be appreciated, she is not interesting and at the end of the day whether people like it or not thats what makes good TV. |

Yes it's been reported online on their site now too.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...e-Dancing.html I'm not sure what to make of it TBH - I like Darcey but she didn't leave a huge impression on me as a judge - it was reported in another article that apparently Craig wanted her on the panel - so perhaps that influenced the producers too. |

I'm quite surprised if this is true, although isn't it a bit early for it to be announced? I would have thought they would drag it out to the last possible minute to keep interest. I wasn't a fan of her as a guest judge but that was such a short period of time maybe given time she would be better and at least they picked a dancer

The Beeb were on a sticky wicket here, Alesha muddied the waters because, despite the fact that she was non technical the show has never been so popular. Darcy is too quiet for the show Strictly has become and as I expect, her appointment will create nowhere near as many waves as Alesha defecting to BGT.

Darcey was dull. Why haven't they gone for Karen?

I think the thing to consider before is that Darcey was only a guest judge, and there were 4 others to compete with on the panel. With only 3 now, it may be easier for her to establish a more permanent personality.
I'd also think that if Darcey had replaced Arlene in the first place, she wouldn't have had nearly the same backlash as either she is now, or Alesha did then. She may also grow into the role like/better than Alesha did. How long will she stay though? Reported big pay check by the Beeb, but if she's having to relocate from Australia, is she a short term fix to a long term hole left by Alesha? |

because she was crap, basically. She was an awful guest judge a couple of years ago - said absolutely nothing interesting or useful and seems to know absolutely nothing about ballroom or Latin. At least Alesha had actually been on the show and knew a bit...in fact I'd go as far as to say that Alesha was a much better judge than Darcey.
Of all the great dancers the BBC had to choose from, they had to go for someone completely irrelevant to the show I'd much prefer it to be Karen Hardy even though she also annoys me immensely!

She'll improve the grammaticality
Of the panel quite dramatically If nothing else, I think that's a fair assumption. Although Darcey didn't make a great impression in 2009, I didn't rate Alesha at all so she doesn't have to do much to constitute an improvement from my POV. |

She didn't fill in for Craig, she was taken on as a 5th judge for the last couple of shows - for some completely unknown reason as she brought nothing to the judging panel.
I love her as a dancer, but I'm not sure about her as a judge. If she's as bland as the last time, it won't be a success but if she's a permanent replacement then maybe she'll start to make some actual criticisms rather than saying everyone was wonderful. At least she has a professional dance/performance background even if it's not in ballroom/latin. However, I won't actually believe it until there's an official press release from the BBC which, as far as I'm aware, there hasn't been yet. I haven't seen any information about who the new Executive Producer is going to be either and I thought they would have a say in who gets appointed to the judging panel.

I think Darcy will have to become a much tougher judge than she was last time to garner much respect from the pros and or the knowledgeable audience (ie us) who take their Strictly seriously - well more than the casual viewer.
However I have a feeling that all is not lost... because if you remember last time she did insist on having a go and did that dance with Ian, so its possible that she will spend the next 6 months getting a good knowledge of everything she will have to look for . My main comment is AT LEAST IT'S NOT KAREN..... ![]() We have to be thankful for small mercies... ![]()

Amazing how suddenly Alesha has become popular as a judge
![]() I guess Karen wasn't chosen because she is too gushy, opinionated and loud.....and we already have those qualities on the judging panel

It probably takes some time for a new judge to settle in so she should be given time but better than having Hardy.

I think Alesha was always popular with the viewers which is why Simon Cowell paid her so much to move to his programme, just a very vocal minority have their own favourites and will not accept anyone else.
