You'd think by the title it would indicate the last time the media will feature this case but I can't see it. It's long since moved in to folklore territory so it'll never really go away.

It's our JonBenet Ramsey case I suppose.

If Madeleine is still living there is a good chance that she or her school friends would know by now who she is via browsing the Internet.
I shall tune in to watch the programme tonight out of curiosity. Wouldn't it be wonderful if she were to be found.

Won't be watching. I can't stomach the simpering sycophants every presenter and journalist in the country turns into when in front of these people. I find it truly unnerving.

That said, it would be amazing if the little girl is found one day. Stranger things have happened...I like to believe it's possible she's still out there somewhere.

As was shown in the piece shown on the news, the popular opinion in Portugal is completely different to here, so it may be a bit more balanced if it reflects the news report.

Such a sad story. Be interesting to hear what this new evidence is.

It's on the BBC and the media savvy McCann's have friends in the highest of places, so I can't imagine it being anything but fawning...I can't see that the McCann's would have agreed to the programme otherwise.

Which makes me surprised they are using "The Last Hope" in the title of the programme. If she is alive then it could be shown to her to show that people have given up hope of finding her. I believe this is one reason why her parents have never said they believe that she could be dead.

Why would it be fawning ? They don't even say there is an interview with the parents, the interviews seem to be with the police involved in the UK and Portugal. If the BBC want to make a programme about Madeleine the McCanns don't have to agree with it.

the mccanns have high friends and nothing shown in england will ever question there version of events.

Look on the internet for logical theorys and how the mcanns and friends have changed there storys many times.

The UK media has been so biased towards the McCanns you can't even discuss the subject on DS.

Whether the McCanns are in the programme or not, I just can't imagine it being anything but biased. Everything else I've seen about them on TV has been, so why would this be different?

Oh for crying out loud. Enough already! There a LOTS of missing people in the world!

Why anybody possibly thinks she's still alive is beyond me.

It's not being shown at 7.30 on BBC1 Scotland or Northwest. I wonder if there is any significance in the fact this seems to have been rushed onto the air in the last 24 hours.

BBC Scotland are very stubborn with their home-grown series (which is what is continuing in place of Panorama) but it is odd that these are the two regions the parents hail from.

BBC Scotland are using that slot for what has been a very entertaining series about 60 years of TV in Scotland with clips from BBC, STV and Grampian shows.
BBC Northwest have (yet another) Titanic-linked programme.

Maybe they will show it later.

Not in the schedule for today at all - even though there is another slot it could have gone in after the Lottery results

DS usually bin the McCann threads because they invariably descend into the usual tit-for-tat arguments from both "sides" coupled with the usual litany of libellous allegations.

There's no conspiracy as far as DS is concerned - they just got tired of refereeing the slanging matches.

Which, when you think about it, is just completely odd. Unless you know the family, why do people get so upset about it, and things like this?

People seem to live their lives vicariously through sad events that happen to others. It's very morbid.

I agree. Better not watch Lorraine next week because they're on her show.

But no sadder than the stories of lots of children who go missing every year without any of the publicity or media sensationalism.
