Seem to remember in one of the episodes he kept somebody who had actually performed badly because he thought they had more potential in the long run. Does he seriously see himself being in business with Adam?

I think its a stuart baggs/ michael sophocles ratings thing.. there arent many (if any others at all) who can be seen as really negative and poor performing candidates and to be fair, having Adam at least puts in some one to be passionate about (even if its negative!)

lot of quiet people like azhar jade nick etc who dont really stand out either way at the moment so at least hes a figure of contention..

I thought Adam was almost sure to be fired. I suspected Lord Sugar's whole plan in making him and Jenna PMs was to ensure he'd be able to get shot of one of them.

Katie did screw up, no doubt about that. But she's been pretty good in some tasks, whereas Adam has been a complete knob on every task.

I personally think Azhar should have been fired, out of those three at least. Stephen was the true "One That Got Away" for me, though.

Like me, LS wants to see Moany Adam in the interviews round with Claude and Margaret.
That would be classic TV, garantueed!

Frankly Adam should have been fired the second that the team had lost, as he went directly against what the task should have been (high quality food) and then LS should have fired Katie too for her naff choice of pitch.

BIB.....

Adam didnt dare bring Stephen back as he seemed scared of him. Far easier for him to bring Katie & Azhar, as Katie clearly screwed up, and Ahzar seemed like the ideal fall guy as he is so (up to now) quiet.

Wasn't Stephen in charge of that sub-team or did I imagine it (it was quite late when I watched it and I had had a few drinks).

This task was about making a quality product and making the most money. It wasn't his fault it all went wrong. At the end of the day, there was only 5 sales in it.

The failure was largely down to location (Katie) and time-wasting (Stephen).

Adam did everything right, inc. arguing against the price rise, telling the sub-team to get back and get selling rather than walking around aimlessly and changing locations when sales stopped.

Quality product!! He ordered the cheapest ingredients out there!!
He wouldn't know quality if it jumped up and bit him on the bum

Sorry, but this is totally incorrect.

Their brief (clearly stated by LS) was to create HIGH QUALITY street food. What they "created" was the cheapest type of bilge possible, Adam knew it and even revelled in the fact it was cheap!.

I think because he felt a bit sorry for Adam, stallholder, not as clever as the collegekids, maybe he recognised a bit of himself in that and possibly also because he secretly valued the 'cheap, cheap, cheap'.....

AS wants to see him face the interview stages I'm sure!! Either that or he does see a slight resembelance to himself (but I doubt it)!!

Adam and Stephen are this year's comedy turns, one of them is bound to crash and burn in the next 3 weeks, the other at the interview stage.

Solely for the benefit of next week's market trading task. That's his turf.

Am I just slow on the uptake or are the tasks always based around the job descriptions of the candidates.

I think if LS finds himself eyeballing three people, none of whom he would dream of going into business with, from his point of view it doesn't matter who goes.

Adam is totally out of his depth and Azhar isn't far behind. They are both looking down the barrel now.

But Adam has a big gob and Sugar likes it like that. To be honest, I sitll don't have a clue what Azhar did bar saying 2 sentences. When they were on the coach, he just followed the other 2 without saying a think to the folk on the coach. Sure they were not interested, but he could have at least tried to get them into the meatballs.

What's wrong with Pasta and Meat balls?

How can you make a cheap dish expensive?

It's pretty obvious that this task was to make the most profit, if it was about creating the best organic food, they would be trying to sell it to Supermarkets not out of a van.

Nothing wrong with meatballs. But Adam used the cheapest, fattiest meat. Personally I would have explained to him that fatty meat is a false economy; when you fry the meatballs the fat melts, leaving a smaller ball and needing more of them. Better quality meat would go just as far and be more marketable (eg if you can advertise which meat you're using).

Adam also wanted to use dried rosemary rather than fresh as per the chef's recipe. Which, to answer your question, is one way to make a cheap dish even cheaper...

LS has seen all their business ideas, he probably had his winner picked from the beginning based on that... perhaps Adam is that person?

Were both teams ‘advised’ which delicacy to make? Did one choose the cheaper pork and was the other offered a cheap cut of beef which she wanted replaced by a better cut? If Adam’s team had made the most profit would he have been given a pat on the back or penalised for creating meatballs from the cheapest cut?

There's no way they'd have edited the series the way they have if Adam was the eventual winner. They'd have at least tried to make him look less of an idiot.

Completely agree. He's no more than comedy filler who will survive longer than he should but still not reach the final. He's this year's Michael Sophocles, Tre Azam or Stuart Baggs.

Particularly in more recent years, the winner always gets a 99% sympathetic edit, generally with lots of little clips inserted in early eps just to show them being competent even if they don't do much. That was the case with Tom Pellereau last year - he did very little in tasks, but was positioned as insightful and good with ideas (i.e. a mad inventor). This year I'm thinking Tom, Gabrielle and Nick. Even though Gab has shown weaknesses in terms of commercial nous, that can be easily addressed if her business idea is good - and it has been firmly established so far that she is an 'ideas' person.

As I've said elsewhere, it also helps that she is an architect/designer and Sugar's biggest business these days is property - there's a good fit there which would make her an interesting investment prospect for him.

I've covered all this and more in more detail on my blog round-up this week ... http://slouchingtowardsthatcham.com/...6-street-food/
