Anyone else a bit disillusioned with The Apprentice this year?

Everything in television has a life span and Apprentice has reached the end of its time .
The same for artistes, groups. The usually have a very purple patch where they produce great music, then the magic seems to vanish.

I said this a few weeks back too.

None of the candidate are very likeable nor are they not likeable enough that you hate them.

The series is really all a bit dull, i find i dont care and have missed episodes or joined episodes late and have only watched one episode of your fired.

I also think this partly comes from last years winner, when it ended up being less about the tasks, nor about the business plans but about some random nail file that wasnt even part of the final pitch......

However i appear to be in the minority because ratings are still healthy.

I'm watching but if I missed any of it, I wouldn't really care. Can't be @rsed to post in here either slagging off or defending the competitors as they're too 'knowing' for my liking...

Both these reasons is why I feel a little 'meh' about this year's series. Take the firing of Duane, he came with good ideas and was very hands on with the tasks before the one he was fired on, yet one mistake and he's out while gormless looking contestants like Steven (I think that's his name - the one on last night's losing team and who rode on the tourist buses) are still in. Definitely Lord Sug's loss there. As for last night's firing, I'm not so sure if Katie's departure was loss or not but there were at least two faces on the team I felt like I've not seen before - where have they been?!

And the tasks! I can't even recall next week's one but I remember commenting on the thread for this week's task that the programme makers must be desperate for ideas. That said I'll probably still watch but just take it as entertainment, not a serious-ish competition with a quarter £mil on the table. The YBF programme is a little more entertaining with Dara there.

I agree that since it's become about an investment opportunity rather than a job there's a feeling L A already knows who he wants and the competition is irrelevant. It's affected the entertainment purpose too as it all just seems put on and more unreal than ever.

No idea the viewing figures were still good. Assumed they were down as doesn't seem as busy on here.

I think Duane's firing was the last straw for me of it being even remotely about an equal competition and the best person wins. If L A has already picked the idea he wants to run with then that's why unexpected people get fired because it isn't about the best person having a chance.

Katie Price on YBF last week was the last straw for that show for me unfortunately.

You also have to question such a system when it involves people like Katie going and people like Adam staying! I think the premise of the show was ruined for me the moment I realised it was all just set up for tv and Al blatantly couldn't give a toss who wins or loses.

I'd still watch it for mild entertainment value but frankly, I think I enjoyed it more back when I was less cynical.”

I don't get how one team are brilliant and one are awful when there is just £20 between them at the end and they both made a profit. It's a small difference.
