When do puppies stop teething?

My puppy turned one last week, and we assumed that she had finished teething late last summer and her adult teeth came through, but she's started to chew on her toys on a more regular basis now, some she's spent hours chewing on and has torn apart. Is she teething again or do they only do it once?

dogs only teeth once. she probably just enjoys chewing. give her a nice cooked ham bone, or similar.

In my experience once they've chewed every table and chair leg in the house.

Puppies have baby teeth which drop out around six/seven months. I didn't know this until my dogs started falling out!! I thought I had caused it by pulling on his toy too hard but the vet said they lose all their front teeth just like babies.

My pup isn't quite one yet, but he's definitely not teething Dogs only teeth the once.

Having said that, he does love to chew!

Apparently dogs enjoy chewing because it relieves stress and is just enjoyable for them. It also helps to keep their teeth clean of tarter buildup.

yes they loose thier puppy teeth, but they also almost double the number of teeth in thier mouth (cant remember the exact figures but a puppy has 20 something teeth, an adult dog 40 something) - they can start teething as early as 3/4 months (although most its from about 6) and just like babies can teeth for years! (although they recon most dogs are done by about a year, theres no hard and fast rule) - I'd say op that yes your pup probably is STILL teething - and you probably have a year to go yet. Just get lots of chewable things to direct the attention to!!

I cant imagine my whole jaw adjusting to extra teeth - it must be horrid!!

Oh dear !

Op what breed is she? Some breeds are more prone to 'boredom chewing' than others

Lol we bought her a couple of squeaky tennis balls the other day, she's chewed through three of them and is currently chewing on a stuffing free toy with a bottle inside. Still yeah, at least its not the sofa, although she has been pawing at it recently.

On the subject of chewing...

our pup loves his Kong filled with various things. We fill it with a low-fat cheese triangle and stuff the hole up with a dog biscuit. It keeps him good for ages removing the biscuit and getting the cheese out.

He also likes it with a handful of puppy meal (taken out of his meal allowance) and when they roll them around the pieces fall out a few at a time and he loves that too.

We are lucky enough that someone is with our dog most of the time but on the odd occasion we're not, this keeps him busy and satisfies his chewing. Its also virtually indestructible - he gets through other toys like I get through chocolate bars but the Kong doesn't have a mark on it!

If she is turned 1 year, then she'll have all her teeth by now - Most dogs have their full set by about 8 months, and larger breeds tend to be sooner than small ones.

Maybe she just likes to chew - we had a Labrador that chewed just about anything he could get his mouth around, until he was almost two yrs old.

We've been very lucky with the dog we have now though (Labrador-x-Staffordshire - Lab sized, Staff build) - He never chews anything that isn't specifically given to him - which is a good thing because he can demolish just about anything, in minutes, if he wants to, tennis balls last a matter of seconds.
