Sony or Toshiba 3d / HD TV?
Hi folks. I am hoping for a bit of advice!
I am going to buy a new TV in time for the Olympics, as I want to watch in HD. I hear there may also be some bits shown in 3D, which is exciting! I checked here: http://www.digitalchoices.co.uk/hd-t...e-checker.html and it says I can get Freeview HD no probs, and also Sky (but not Virgin). So with that sorted, I have been reading reviews etc looking for the best TV. This has left me a bit confused, but I have narrowed it down to 2 specific TV's that I am thinking of, and I wondered if you guys could give me your opinions? First up is the Sony - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004S9DWW2/ It looks pretty cool, and is much cheaper than the Toshiba! Thing is, I owned a Toshiba box in the past, and it was great - never owned a Sony one though... Next up is the Toshiba - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004Y3UXJC/ I have owned a Tosh TV before like I say, and it was great! I don't understand the price difference being so stark though! I am leaning towards the Sony because of the price, but I am a little worried I am going to make a mistake! Any advice folks? |

How much are you willing to spend on your new tv as this can help other's make suggestions. Also would you consider other brands like Panasonic or Samsung and is 3D a must have ?. The more info you can give the better advice you'll get
![]() For example: what screen size are you looking for. Does a Smart tv interest you ?. What will you have connected to it ?. |

![]() For example: what screen size are you looking for. Does a Smart tv interest you ?. What will you have connected to it ?. Well, my budget is up to £800, but I am hoping to get change out of that for a 5.1 amp & speakers to plug in... hence considering the cheaper (Sony) TV... My ideal screen would be a 42" (smaller isn't as nice, and larger wouldn't really fit where I intend to put it). 3D isn't 'essential', but as I am getting a new box, I thought I might as well get one (unless it means viewing in 2D is not as good as with non-3D TV's?). Smart TV - don't know much about it, but I have a really good PC anyway, so not sure I would need it? (I would be happy with a HDMI from the PC if I want to use the TV online). Unless it gives other benefits? In terms of what will be connected: * DVD/Blue Ray * PC (HDMI) * PS3 (of course!) - 3D black ops is part of the reason for wanting 3d! and that is about it really. Phew! Sorry it was such a long post, does that info help with any advice? Oh, and other brands, yep, I would consider them! I was really happy with my Toshiba TV, but happy to go with any decent branded one. |

Have a look on here:
http://www.richersounds.com/products...d-plasma/3d-tv There's some excellent deals to be had and you can browse for a 5.1 set up too. Of course i'm assuming you have a Richer Sounds somewhere near or not too far from you but it's worth taking a look at their prices to be honest. |
